We're only weeks or even days away from meeting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's first baby, and the bets are in on what they'll name their little one. If it's a girl, Diana has been the front-runner, but it was just overtaken by another moniker from the royal family.

  • Official UK bookies announced this week that the top contender for Baby Sussex's name is Elizabeth.

Of course we don't know yet if it's a girl or a boy, but if it's a daughter, British bookmakers Ladbrokes has changed the odds of her being named Elizabeth from 16/1 to just 6/1. The odds of Diana (which is still in second place) moved to 8/1, from 6/1 last week.

Part of the reason for the shift is the proximity to Queen Elizabeth's birthday -- the great grandmother will be 93 on April 21. Considering there's a good chance Harry and Meghan's baby will be born on the monarch's birthday, it would be quite the tribute to name her after the queen.

  • If they go with Elizabeth, she'll have something in common with her cousin, Princess Charlotte, who claims it as a middle name.

Prince William and Kate Middleton's only daughter's full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, honoring three members of the British royal family. Charlotte is the feminine form of Charles, her grandfather the Prince of Wales, and of course Elizabeth for the queen, and Diana for William and Harry's late mother.

  • These two could surprise us and go in an entirely different direction.

It's not like they've consigned themselves to following royal tradition on all fronts. Meghan raised eyebrows earlier this year with a posh baby shower in New York City, and it's been rumored that she's not planning the traditional photo op on the steps of the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital, where Princess Diana and the Duchess of Cambridge both showed off their newborns soon after their delivery.

  • No matter what they end up naming him or her, we're all waiting impatiently for baby's arrival.

Meghan is already on maternity leave, and preparing for the birth by making a run with her husband to their local wellness store in London this week. The parents-to-be allegedly spent two hours in Ilapothecary, which is known for "providing women with the best all natural, organic skincare products," as well as providing various treatments, including massage and energy healing.

Maybe they will end up with a non-traditional name for their little one. We wouldn't be completely surprised.
