After nearly four years behind bars, it looks like a Real Housewives husband is a free man ... or so he likely thought. Joe Giudice was released from prison after serving out his 41-month sentence. While this bit of news might sound like freedom to some, this dad of four is not in the clear as he's facing deportation.

  • Joe was released from the Allenwood Low Federal Correctional Institution in Pennsylvania.

In 2014, Teresa and Joe pleaded guilty to 41 counts of fraud, resulting in prison sentences for the pair. Teresa served 11 months the following year, with Joe starting his 41-month prison sentence in March 2016. Us Weekly notes the reality show pair also had to pay Uncle Sam and the New Jersey Department of Treasury, even though their bankruptcy case got dismissed.

"Mr. Giudice has finished serving his federal prison sentence and was transferred early this morning from the Bureau of Prisons to a facility in western Pennsylvania which houses immigration detainees," James Leonard Jr., Joe's lawyer, told People about his release from prison. "His lawyers and his family are hopeful that justice will prevail and Mr. Guidice will return home to his wife and four daughters who love him and miss him."

An unnamed source tells People Joe will stay in the immigrant detention center "indefinitely" as he awaits a ruling on his deportation appeal.

  • In late 2018, a judge ruled Joe would be deported after he served his federal prison sentence.

"Based upon the law, I find you deportable and ineligible for any kind of relief," Judge John Ellington told the celeb dad, declaring his deportation after being released from prison. "Mr. Giudice, no matter how this turns out, I wish you the best. I decided this case as a matter of law."

  • And it's clear lots of people don't have a lot of sympathy for him.

Comments about Joe possibly getting the boot from the US are quite clear: Folks don't really care and only feel bad about Teresa and Joe's children: daughters Gia, 18, Gabriella, 15, Milania, 14, and Audriana, 10.

  • We'll keep an eye on this reality drama.

Teresa is ready to divorce Joe if he gets deported -- which could be the case. This craziness is a real-life reality drama no one expected, especially since Joe has been in the US since he was a baby.

"I was a year old when I came here," the celeb dad of four explained about his legal situation on The Real Housewives of New Jersey: Teresa Checks In. "My parents are citizens. My brother and sister are citizens -- they were born here. I just never thought to file for citizenship."

We can only imagine how much he would like to go back in time.
