Well, this was unexpected. During a visit to Birkenhead on Monday, Meghan Markle revealed her due date to a well-wisher in the crowd. As Meghan and Prince Harry made their way through the throngs of fans, Meghan stopped to chat with mom Carla Gandy, who was there with her 4-year-old daughter. After Gandy asked the duchess how her pregnancy was going, Meghan tapped her belly and revealed when she's set to give birth. Yes, really.

  • Meghan looked absolutely STUNNING in a bright purple dress, red pumps, and a red coat.

What a perfect antidote to the dreary winter months.

More exciting than her bright ensemble, though, was Meghan's candid comments about her pregnancy. “We asked her how her pregnancy was going and she said she was six months and she tapped her tummy,” Gandy told People

And evidently, the duchess told other well-wishers that she's due in late April.

  • In October, Kensington Palace revealed that Meghan was expecting a baby in the "spring of 2019," so this is much more specific.

During her visit, Meghan also told mom Rebecca Blundell, who was in there with her two daughters, that Harry is "going to be a fantastic dad."

Another mom, who didn't want to be identified, revealed that Meghan told her that her "pregnancy had gone so quickly." And when the woman asked her how she was coping in high heels, Meghan said, "One day at a time!"

  • Meghan also gave a hint about what the royal family's thoughts are on her new addition's gender.

After a fan mentioned she thought Meghan was having a girl, the duchess said, "There are strong opinions about that, but it’s a 50/50 split!"

  • From the sound of things, Meghan is feeling well and has no qualms talking about her pregnancy to adoring fans.

Here's to hoping the rest of the duchess's pregnancy is as smooth sailing as it's been.

And for what it's worth, our money's on girl, too.
