It's shaping up to be a busy week for Meghan Markle. Days after attending a seasonal service at St. Luke’s Church in London to support the Henry van Straubenzee Memorial Fund, Meghan make a surprise solo appearance at King's College, also in London. As part of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), the duchess sat down on Wednesday to speak with students and leaders at the university to discuss the importance of higher education and how it can shape people's futures.

  • The ACU tweeted a photo from the meeting, where Meghan sat at the head of the table and appeared to take notes while listening intently.

"Today we brought together university leaders, academics & #students to discuss how we can build a better world through #highered. We were honored to be joined by HRH The Duchess of Sussex. Thanks to @KingsCollegeLon for hosting!" a spokesperson wrote alongside the photo.

Looks like Meghan is back in her college days!

  • Meghan is yet to officially announce her first patronage, but it's no secret that both higher education and women's issues are near and dear to her heart.

As Elle pointed out, Meghan made mention of the ACU and the importance of continuing education in October while in speaking with college students in Fiji. Talking about her own experience at Northwestern University, Meghan said:

The journey of higher education is an incredible, impactful, and pivotal one. I am also fully aware of the challenges of being able to afford this level of schooling for many people around the world, myself included. It was with scholarships, financial aid programs, and work study from my earnings from a job on campus that went directly towards my tuition that I was able to attend university, and without question it was worth every effort.

  • During her speech, Meghan also expressed how she felt that everyone has a right to higher education.

"Everyone should be afforded the opportunity to receive education that they want but, more importantly, the education that they have the right to receive," she said. "And for women and girls in developing countries, this is vital. Providing them with access to education is the key to economic and social development, because when girls are given the right tools to succeed, they can create incredible futures -- not only for themselves but for all of those around them. And while progress has been made in many areas across the Commonwealth, there's always room to offer more opportunities to the next generation of young adults and specifically to young women."

  • We like where the Duchess of Sussex is going.

  • Since the royal wedding in May, Meghan has already made a few appearances without Prince Harry and has given an unprecedented amount of speeches.
