Everyone needs more Prince Charles in their lives! Well, at least Prince William feels that his family needs more of his dad in their lives. In a recent interview, the dad of three opened up about his own father and lamented that he wished he'd spend more time with his family -- especially the grandchildren.

  • BBC One put together a documentary in honor of Prince Charles's 70th birthday called Prince, Son & Heir: Charles at 70, which also features both of his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

In the show, Kate Middleton's husband said that he wished his father spent more time with his own kiddos, Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 3, and Prince Louis, 6 months.

"I would like him to have more time with the children," William said. "Having more time with him at home would be lovely, and being able to, you know, play around with the grandchildren. When he's there, he's brilliant, but we need him there as much as possible."

  • Prince Harry also expressed a desire for his dad to spend more time with family -- especially now that he and Meghan Markle are expecting a baby next spring.

The dad-to-be said, "He does need to slow down. This is a man who has dinner ridiculously late at night, and then goes to his desk later that night and will fall asleep on his notes to the point where he’ll wake up with a piece of paper stuck to his face. The man never stops. When we were kids, there were bags and bags and bags of work that the office just sent to him. We could barely even get to his desk to say goodnight to him."

  • It sounds like Charles is a wonderful grandfather -- when he makes the time.

Even the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Parker-Bowles, agreed that her husband is phenomenal in the grandparent department. She said that he's splendid with her own four grandchildren from her previous marriage.

She gushed, "He reads Harry Potter and he can do all the different voices and I think children really appreciate that. He will get down on his knees and crawl about with them for hours, you know, making funny noises and laughing, and my grandchildren adore him, absolutely adore him."

  • We hope that Charles takes a break for his family's sake and spends more time with the future generation.

We know he has a lot on his plate, considering that he'll be the King of England someday, but his grandkids need him. He reportedly loves playing in the garden with them and even supposedly renovated an old treehouse for Prince George, so we know he enjoys being in their lives. It sounds like he just needs to make them a priority.
