Prince Harry isn't here for Meghan Markle's hectic royal schedule. Now that the duchess is expecting the royal couple's first child, she's, understandably, exhausted, and Harry, adoring husband that he is, wants her to take it easy. On Sunday, day six of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's royal tour, Meghan skipped out on a cycling event for the Invictus Games. Previously, she was scheduled to attend, but after an event the night before ran two hours over, Harry encouraged Meghan to slow down a bit and get some rest instead.

  • A source told Us Weekly Harry “encouraged his pregnant wife to slow down after she felt tired when the opening of the Invictus Games overran by nearly two hours."

Initially, the royal duo were expecting to return to their quarters at the Admiralty House by 9 p.m., but the Invictus opening was delayed nearly two hours due to weather, so they didn’t get in until almost 11 p.m. The source also said, "If it has been a very late night due to unforeseen circumstances, we have to adjust for that. She had a very late night last night. We have to try to pace her. We have to make sure she is well paced and not overdoing it. We want to make sure she gets enough rest at the beginning of the day and at the end of the day.”

  • After the duchess was a no-show at the cycling event, the palace released the following statement:

“After a busy program, The Duke and Duchess have decided to cut back The Duchess’s schedule slightly for the next couple of days, ahead of the final week and a half of the tour."

Despite sitting out of the cycling event, Meghan did attend a reception hosted by Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison at The Pavilion restaurant in Central Sydney for competitors afterwards, and according to sources, she “appeared lively and engaged.”

  • Understandably, Meghan feels a little guilty missing out on things, but luckily Harry just wants her to focus on her health.

"She wants to do everything, but Prince Harry is encouraging her to pace herself," the royal insider told Us

  • Since the palace announced her pregnancy, Meghan has been going nonstop.

Immediately following the statement, she embarked on a 16-day tour, where each day is jam-packed with royal engagements -- and let's not forget everything Meghan was doing before the palace shared the good news (when she was still pregnant).

Of course, it's disappointing for Meghan to miss out on fun events, but sometimes a pregnant duchess just needs to sit back and put her feet up for a while. The royal events are going anywhere, Meg. In fact, for you, they're just getting started.
