Even though it sounds like Frogmore Cottage has been an ideal place for Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Archie Harrison to live, turns out, the Berkshire residence wasn't the Sussexes' first choice. Apparently, when Harry and Meghan decided to move out of Kensington Palace they had their eyes set on Windsor Castle.

But Queen Elizabeth wasn't having it.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Harry and Meghan asked the queen if they could move into Windsor shortly after they got married.

Windsor Castle, for those who don't know, is where Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip spend a lot of their weekends.

"The couple are understood to have set their hearts at first on Windsor Castle, and are believed to have asked the queen if living quarters could be made available after their marriage," a source told the Sunday Times.

Queen Elizabeth turned down the couple's request and instead bestowed Frogmore Cottage to them.

And according to some royal experts, Frogmore is a much better deal.

Royal biographer Hugo Vickers has a theory on why the queen did this -- Frogmore is more appropriate for a growing family.

"There are empty bedrooms and suites in the private apartments [within Windsor Castle] which the Sussexes may have had their eye on, or perhaps some former living quarters in the castle grounds converted into other things. But I can see how it might not be entirely appropriate to have a young family living there," Vickers said.

That said, Frogmore Cottage is on the grounds of Windsor Castle, so it was a semi-win for the Sussexes.

In the end, it sounds like Frogmore Cottage is a great place for Meghan, Harry, and baby Archie to live for now.

Not only did it undergo a $3 million renovation in order to turn it into the couple's five-bedroom dream home, but it's also where Prince Charles hosted their wedding reception, so there's sentimental meaning to boot.

It's a rough life when the queen turns down your request to live in a certain castle, but it sounds like the Sussexes will survive.

Hang in there, guys.
