20 Celebrity Couples Who Suddenly Called Off Their Engagements
Well, sometimes things just really don't work out. Celebrities, especially those in Hollywood, have long been infamous for not being able to have long-lasting relationships. And honestly, with their amount of fame, it's pretty understandable why it's hard to make things work. However, some celebs take the whole short relationships thing to a whole different level. We all love a good whirlwind romance, but when there's an engagement involved, things start to get tricky. Yes, celebrities are known for having ridiculously short marriages, but some couples go from meeting, dating, engaged, to broken up all within a couple of months.
And it's hard to keep up with, to say the least.
It's tough enough to stay on top of the "who's dating who" gossip, but when celeb couples are breaking off engagements left and right, things get even more complicated. (But what's Hollywood without a little drama to keep us coming back!)
One moment a couple is smiling for the cameras, with a sparkling diamond ring on full display. And then before we know it, there's a public heartbreak -- and breakup. When things move this quickly, it's really not all that surprising that these celebs just can't seem to make it work. Youth, fame, and whirlwind passion aren't exactly the best ingredients needed for lasting and successful marriages -- but hey, it's worked for some people!
These 20 celebrity couples though? Not so much. Take a look at all the the celebrity engagements that ended a lot quicker than they started.
Ariana Grande & Pete Davidson
Oh boy -- these two. Pete and Ariana started dating in May, got several matching couples tattoos, got engaged in June, and then called it quits mid-October. It was a whirlwind for sure, and we're still living it.
Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck
Ben and Jennifer were engaged in 2005, but four days before their wedding was supposed to happen (in September of 2006), Ben decided to call it all off.
Talk about short notice.
Julia Roberts & Kiefer Sutherland
Julia Roberts and Kiefer Sutherland are another Hollywood couple who called off their engagement days before they were supposed to walk down the aisle. Word is the Flatliners co-stars got engaged in 1991, and after some fights and ups and downs, Julia pulled the plug on everything that same year.
Blac Chyna & Rob Kardashian
These two got engaged after four months of dating, but despite sharing a daughter together, Chyna and Rob eventually broke up ... very dramatically.
Nikki Bella & John Cena
Dating back in 2012 -- the same year John and his now-ex-wife Elizabeth Huberdeau divorced -- John and Nikki were a pretty solid couple by the time the WWE star popped the question in 2017. However, in April 2018, the two announced they called off their wedding, only to get back together, and call off their wedding again.
Mariah Carey & James Pecker
Mariah and James officially got engaged in January 2016, after roughly seven months of dating. However, they broke things off later that year while on vacation in Greece.
Whoops.

Selita Ebanks & Nick Cannon
The Victoria's Secret model and Nick Canon were only engaged for five months before calling it quits.
Paris Hilton & Paris Latsis
Paris and Paris didn't last long. The two were engaged for four months before Paris squared went their separate ways.

Drew Barrymore & Leland Hayward

Alyssa Milano & Scott Wolf
Alyssa and Scott met in 1993, moved in together two months later, and got engaged two months after that. However, the relationship crumbled shortly after the two gave a joint interview in 1994, during which the Party of Five '90s heartthrob said, "I'm convinced we're like two halves of the same soul."
Irony isn't kind.
Robin Wright & Ben Foster
Robin and Ben were on-again, off-again for a while, but they ended their engagement in January, after just a little over a year.

Ouch.
Demi Moore & Emilio Estevez
