There's no way of getting around it: whenever she goes out, Kate Middleton is always the center of attention. No matter if she's at the wedding of a friend or relative -- more eyes are on the duchess than the bride. To combat this (as much as she can), Kate has a trick for when she's a wedding guest to make sure she doesn't (completely) outshine the bride.

  • Recently, the duchess attended the wedding of her good friend Sophie Carter. And what did she wear?

The blue Catherine Walker coat dress she wore in Germany in 2017. The reason? According to People, it's a strategic move to not make the focus on her new outfit but instead the bride.

Way to keep it classy, Kate.

  • Similarly, Kate did the same thing at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding this past spring.

Instead of choosing to wear something everyone would know was new, she wore a cream-colored coat dress verrrry similar to the one she wore to Princess Charlotte's christening a few years prior.

  • Some think it's a different dress, but either way, they're incredibly similar.

In other words, the dress Kate wore to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding didn't draw too much attention because it wasn't conspicuously new. Again, nice move, Kate.

  • Both Kate and William seem to always try to keep a low profile at other people's weddings, because after all, it's THEIR big day.

That said, the same can't necessarily be said for her too-cute-for-words children. No matter where they are or what they're wearing, they always seem to steal the show.

One of the pitfalls of being royally adorable.
