You really don't know what -- or who, in this case -- you'll miss until the idea of said something (or someone) being gone hits home. Ronnie Ortiz-Magro is addressing fan concern he's leaving Jersey Shore: Family Vacation in a heartfelt post that boasts maturity and true growth.

  • The cast of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation was present and accounted for at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards.

Vinnie and Pauly D held it down on the red carpet to interview attendees.

  • And it likely raised as few eyebrows considering Ronnie wasn't there.

  • This isn't the first time Ronnie was absent from a group event.

Outlets previously reported Ronnie didn't film the end of the upcoming season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. He also skipped out on filming prior to that after his off-again, on-again girlfriend, Jen Harley, got into a physical altercation at a filming location over their daughter.

The duo welcomed daughter Ariana Sky back in April and have had a relationship that can only be described as volatile ... and that's putting things nicely. Not only did Ronnie get caught cheating on Jen during the first season (she was pregnant at the time), but the pair have since been involved in a number of physical fights -- including one where Jen "dragged" Ronnie with her car and got arrested.
  • And now, the reality star dad is setting the record straight and addressing growing concern he's leaving the show.

"Everyone keeps asking where I've been, why wasn't I at the #VMA's or other #JSFV events with my lovely cast mates," Ronnie Ortiz-Magro explains in a lengthy Instagram post.

    He continues:

"I've chosen to take some time off to be a father to my beautiful daughter. I've got to experience everything in my life thankfully because of #JS & #MyFans. There's nothing that can replace the feeling of being a father. Thank you for all the love & support and no I have not quit #jS. I am just choosing to take time so I can watch my daughter grow and be apart of a life not just in her life and be an amazing father. I rather be there for her in person than have to watch her grow through Text messages & IG posts. I can give her everything in the world but if I can't give her a relationship or a bond than all of this is for nothing at the end of the day."

  • Score one for dad.

  • As much as we have our qualms about Ron and his behavior on the show, it's great to hear he's taking time to be with his daughter.

Take all the time you need.
