One Royal Family Member Reportedly Hoped Kate Middleton & Prince William Would Break Up
Prince Charles's wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, isn't exactly everyone's favorite royal family member, and this latest report certainly won't do anything to change that. Evidently, not long after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge began dating, Camilla wanted William and Kate to break up.
Not cool, Camilla. Not cool at all.
According to Christopher Andersen, author of the book Game Of Crowns: Elizabeth, Camilla, Kate, and the Throne, Camilla wanted Wills and Kate to cut ties.
Andersen reports that Camilla referred to Kate as “pretty but dim” and didn't think she was worthy of William, mainly due to her lack of royal blood.
Um, Camilla? Kate may be a commoner by birth, but lest you forget, the beginning of her relationship with William was FAR less scandalous than you and Charles.
Just sayin'.
A report in The Sun claims that Kate and Camilla have never gotten along well and that Camilla once deemed Kate "too lowly" to marry into the royal family.
She even reportedly asked Prince Charles to try to convince William to end things with Kate! (!!!)
It isn't clear if William and Kate's brief, two-month split in 2007 had anything to do with Camilla, but one could surmise the Duchess of Cornwall was happy when it happened.
It's also been reported that once William and Kate got serious, Camilla worried the public would like Will and Kate more than herself and Charles.
Let's hope all of this is just hearsay, because A) it would be incredibly immature of Camilla to feel this way, and B) Don't mess with Prince William and Kate Middleton. Ever.
From the looks of things, Camilla has put her initial feelings about Kate behind her and the two get along well these days.
Either that or the women are seriously good actresses -- but we're seriously hoping it's the former.
