Mila Kunis & Ashton Kutcher: From 'That '70s Show' to Happily Ever After

It's no big secret why Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher's relationship has fans (and tabloids) hooked -- even after all these years. Kelso and Jackie, the two gorgeous, kissy-face kids we fell in love with on That '70s Show 20 years ago (yes, we're old) grew up to get married for real, fulfilling all our groovy basement fantasies. Fast-forward to today, and this Hollywood duo is still gorgeous and more successful than ever and are the fun-loving parents to daughter Wyatt and son Dimitri we can't help but love. It's crazy to think two decades have passed since they acted alongside each other. And though Ashton and Mila are intensely protective of their privacy, we do get a few glimpses here and there of their family that prove they're just as down-to-earth we hoped they would be.

Mila was just 14 when she got her start on That '70s Show and has maintained a pretty successful career. She voices the lovable "loser" sister, Meg, on Family Guy and has become a force in the acting world with films like Black Swan, The Book of Eli, and Bad Moms.

Ashton moved on, too. He parlayed his success on That '70s Show into other TV projects, such as MTV's Punk'd and later assumed the bad boy role vacated by Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men. He played corporate titan Steve Jobs in a biopic, and remained a rom-com regular with movies such as Just Married, Guess Who, and Killers. Not content with being "just a pretty face" on a screen, Ashton also forged a career as a major investor in multiple companies -- including AirBnB, Warby Parker, Spotify, and Uber among other household names.

But as successful as they two have been in their own right, neither Mila nor Ashton could have known they were working their way back to each other (romantically speaking) while staying busy building their individual careers.

In honor of the big two-decade milestone of the show that launched them into super stardom -- and, in many ways, helped set the path down the road to wedded bliss -- here's a look back at the history of Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis's relationship, one perfect picture at a time.

That '70s Show debuted on August 23,1998, and is where we first met Michael Kelso (Ashton Kutcher) and Jackie Burkhart (Mila Kunis): two pretty, vapid kids in love and living in Wisconsin.

According to Pop TV, Jackie and Kelso kissed a total of 19 times on That '70s Show. Though each kiss seemed steamy, Mila told Marc Maron on his WTF Podcast there was nothing between them at the time other than friendship, of course.

"Yep, in the show [we kissed], with no feelings whatsoever," she told Maron. "It's the weirdest story nobody believes, but it's the God's honest truth. There was nothing there and it was like ... whatever."

Ashton also had his hesitations about kissing Mila given she was 14 at the time. "It was really weird. I was like, 'Isn't this illegal? Like can I -- am I allowed?" he once confessed to Howard Stern. "It was really awkward because I'm like a 19-year-old kid. She was 14! She was like my little sister. I wanted to make sure she was okay."

Though Ashton and Mila didn't hit it off romantically speaking while filming That '70s Show (she was 14), they did develop a cool bond that some might even consider a student-tutor relationship as Ashton used to help Mila with her chemistry homework.

Mila started dating the Home Alone star in 2002, when she was 18 and Macaulay Culkin was 21. Their love lasted for eight years before they split in 2011. (Mila's rep confirmed their breakup while she was on a press tour for her wildly successful movie, Black Swan.)

In 2009, Mila opened up about her relationship with Macaulay saying, "We grew up together."

In 2005, Ashton married actress Demi Moore. The two were husband and wife for six years before separating in 2011, when she updated her high-profile Twitter handle from "MrsKutcher" to "JustDemi" amid rumors he was unfaithful. (In April 2015, actor Scott Eastwood revealed Ashton cheated on Demi with his then-girlfriend at the time.)

Mila recently dished on the details of Ashton's marriage to Demi on Marc Maron's WTF podcast, defending the authenticity of their union. "Yeah, I married a divorcée," she said on the podcast. "They had, like, a normal, real relationship. They had three kids they were raising [Demi's three daughters with Bruce Willis: Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah]. It was, like, a normal life. … Yeah, he was younger, but he loved those kids."

Even though they were involved with other people, the friendship between Mila and Ashton remained. In 2005, Ashton featured Mila on his breakout show Punk'd. The future husband and wife duo looked as comfortable around each other as they did on that basement couch in That '70s Show.

In 2016, Mila Kunis described the night she fell for Ashton. "I see this guy and I see his back and he's really tall ..." she told Howard Stern. "Then he just turns around and it was literally like if we were in a movie, the music would start playing and the violins would go. I think for the first time ever he took my breath away -- I was like f*ck, he's good-looking."

The two would enter into a casual romance that turned physical without a ton of strings.

"I did a movie called Friends With Benefits. He did a movie that was very similar called No Strings Attached. We lived our movies out," Mila told Marc Maron on his WTF podcast about hooking up with Ashton Kutcher, People reports. "We were just like, let's just hook up. Let's have fun. We're both single. We both trust each other. Everything's great."

Although Ashton and Mila did seem to set boundaries regarding their "friends with benefits" status, there was a point where this celeb mom almost pulled the plug on their understanding after she discovered her future hubby had another woman on his mind.

"I felt like I got punched in the gut," she mentioned on the WTF podcast about almost leaving Ashton. Thankfully, she had a change of heart.
"I was like, 'Oh my god, I'm in love with this man and I have to walk away because this is not the agreement that we had and so I'm going to speak up. I was like, 'I'm just going to let you know, when a, b and c happened, I know that I had all of a sudden a very different reaction to it and I respect us and I respect you, and so I'm going to bail.' And I left the house."

Once Mila laid all her cards on the table, she told podcaster Marc Maron that Ashton wasn't willing to let her go. "He showed up at my house and he was like, 'Let's move in together,'" she confessed about Ashton wanting to take things to the next level. "He goes, 'I'm not going to lose you.' And that was it."

Throughout 2013 and 2014, the two were officially an item. Still, Mila and Ashton have remained fiercely protective of their privacy and continue to do so to this day.

"You know, I've learned the hard way how valuable privacy is," Ashton said in a 2013 interview with Elle about wanting to keep his relationship with Mila out of the press. "And I've learned that there are a lot of things in your life that really benefit from being private. And relationships are one of them. And I am going to do everything in my power to have this relationship be private."

In February 2014, Mila was spotted with a gigantic rock on that finger, signaling she and Ashton were ready to make things official. Just a couple of months before their reported engagement, the couple attended the weddings of both of their brothers and spent the holidays with Ashton's family.

Just a month after news of their engagement surfaced, the public started to notice Mila sporting what looked to be a growing baby bump. Months later, outlets reported Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher welcomed their first child, a daughter named Wyatt Isabelle, on October 1, 2014.

The ultra-private couple married in a quiet ceremony on July 4, 2015, on a ranch outside LA. Ashton told Ellen about his efforts to throw throw paparazzi off their scent in effort to keep their special day private.

"I was, like, posting things on social media that were in different locations," he told the host, E! News reports. "Because we didn't want to be screaming our vows at each other and be like, 'Forever! Did you say never?' We didn't want to do that thing, so we went really under the radar with it."

As wonderful as Ashton and Mila's nuptials likely were, their honeymoon sounded like a nightmare from hell.

"Eight hours into our RV trip … our air conditioner breaks in Bakersfield in 110-degree weather," the celeb mom once confessed to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.

"We almost died on the side of the road when Apple Maps took us on a road … It was a fire road on the side of a mountain. We all had to jump out of the vehicle and walk, like, three miles while my father-in-law drove the van and Ashton navigated him over massive boulders because there had just been a massive flood. Guys, this was like, day two.

Long story short, my wonderful, beautiful mother-in-law picked the RV parks that we were staying in, but she didn’t use the internet. She used books. She’s like, 'We'll end in Napa. It'll be beautiful,' I was like, 'You know what, what can go wrong?' Let me tell you. An RV park not in Napa but an hour outside of Napa with two prisons, OK … and my husband looked at me and goes, 'I quit,' and I'm like, 'Me too.'"

On November 30, 2016, Mila gave birth to a baby boy named Dimitri. Almost a year later, Ashton shared a snap of the toddler wearing this hilarious That '70s Show shirt, captioning the look,"Yes, this is my son's outfit today."

As parents of two young kids, this couple trades in movie premieres and exotic trips for date nights where the two watch The Bachelor -- which might just be the most relatable thing about them.

"We like to turn on their one-on-one dates when they're sitting down and nobody eats and they talk to each other," Mila once told Howard Stern about their obsession with The Bachelor. "We shut the sound off, and we imitate what the conversation probably is. It's like, 'Are you going to eat the chicken? No.' Because you know those conversations are not wonderful."

Though these two don't like a ton of eyes on their relationship (at all), Ashton and Mila were happy to oblige the LA Kings Kiss Cam, giving a smooch for all to see.

Mila celebrated her 35th birthday on August 14, 21 years after she was just a 14-year-old learning to kiss Ashton on set -- and she's still smooching her best friend. (Squee!) There's no doubt 35 looks great on the wife and mother of two.

Think this couple plans on spoiling their kiddos?

    Yeah, not going to happen.

"I'm not setting up a trust for them," Ashton Kutcher once revealed about him and Mila setting up their children with tons of money. "We'll end up giving our money away to charity and to various things. [They're] living a really privileged life and they don't even know it. If my kids want to start a business, and they have a good business plan, I'll invest in it. But they're not getting trusts."

This definitely makes sense considering Mila wears a $90 wedding band from Etsy.

As crazy as it sounds, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis made their first red carpet appearance in December 2017 when they attended the Sixth Annual Breakthrough Prize Ceremony.

Talk about a long time coming!

Wondering when we'll get to see Mila and Ashton on-screen again together? Welp, don't count on it. Mila told Willie Geist on Today it would just be too "weird," adding it's "not going to happen."
