Kylie Jenner Gets Hilariously Trolled After Being Called a Self-Made Billionaire

Kylie Jenner

A few years ago, while we were watching adolescent Kylie Jenner on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, we probably would've laughed at if someone said she would grace the cover of Forbes magazine before her 21st birthday. But here we are, and there she is on the cover -- being called a self-made billionaire

  • Kylie announced the news on Instagram, showing off her cover.

She added the caption, "wow. i can’t believe I’m posting my very own @forbes cover. thank you for this article and the recognition. I’m so blessed to do what i love everyday. i couldn’t have dreamt this up! #KylieCosmetics"

Kylie launched her lip kits (a lipstick and matching liner sold together) in 2016, and has reportedly raked in $630 million in makeup sales since. Forbes values the company, of which Ky owns 100 percent, at $800 million, and estimates that she's worth another $100 million in TV earnings and endorsement deals.

  • It's all quite impressive for someone who isn't even old enough to legally drink yet.

Especially when you consider that Kylie also became a mom earlier this year to daughter Stormi. Some of us have trouble finding a clean shirt when we need to go out, and here Kylie is just running her billion-dollar company. NBD.

  • It wasn't long before people started trolling her on the "self-made" thing though.

Even got into it with a sarcastic tweet. Here's the thing about starting a business -- you need investors. We're sure Kylie works hard, and we don't begrudge her any of her success. But. Not just any teenager can launch their own cosmetic line and become an instant success thanks to the fame of simply being part of a famous family.

Kylie isn't self-made, she's privileged, and started out with about ten legs up. That's OK, but can we call it what it is?

  • People really got on Forbes's case for making it seem like Kylie came from nothing.

She may or may not have single-handedly started the wig trend of recent years, but she certainly didn't start her own company from scratch. It's impressive that Kylie Cosmetics has become so popular, and it wouldn't have sold so many units if it wasn't a good product, but she had so many people to help her get started.

  • This comparison was by far our favorite.

OK, maybe it's not quite as bad as reheating soup, but she certainly didn't start Kylie Cosmetics from scratch.

  • It is so much easier to grow your wealth and influence if you already come from wealth and influence.

We know her sister and brother-in-law Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have been all about Donald Trump lately, but dang, it has to hurt to be compared to the Donald in terms of being out of touch with us little people.

  • We are uber impressed by all of Kylie's insane success at such a young age.

We're just not her for people pretending like she's self-made. Nope, she had a serious head start, and owes much of her success to her already rich and famous family.
