Everyone handles the loss of a loved one differently. But some methods might be better than others. Katherine Heigl was criticized for photos she took during a recent trip to the cemetery many think were inappropriate. And now, her apology is sparking a debate.

  • Katherine Heigl recently visited Buffalo, New York, where she visited family and took a trip to the cemetery to remember lost loved ones.

Family death and tragedy can be a hard pill to swallow.

  • And it seems the pics she shared, playfully posing with tombstones, pissed off a lot of people -- prompting her to delete them and apologize.

Outlets are reporting Katherine Heigl not only shared pics of herself posing with family tombstones, but also took silly pics with other people's gravestones.

  • "I noticed on my Instagram page that the post I posted earlier was getting a lot of reaction, and I realized you guys are right," she says in a video.

"And that was not appropriate, and it was disrespectful, and I've taken it down," the celeb mom added in her first of two Instagram videos about the controversy.

"Somebody commented -- and, I'm sorry, I can't remember who -- that was kind of just saying that they didn't think it was an appropriate thing to do, but that I was probably trying to make a hard moment light-hearted. And that's exactly what I was doing. It's kind of a heavy thing to go to and visit my loved ones' graves, and I decided to try and find some moments of levity and humor and didn't realize how inappropriate I was being. So I deeply apologize, and I thank you guys."

  • "I thank you guys for understanding that sometimes I don't think things through clearly enough and I am grateful for your input ..."

"... and for giving me a heads up when I’m maybe going too far," she confesses in another Instagram video. "And thank you for forgiving me. Next time I will be more thoughtful about other people’s feelings and not just my own."

  • As you can imagine, Katherine's pics (and apology) are sparking a debate.

  • Some people are annoyed with the celeb mom's antics and feel her apology isn't enough.

  • Others, however, think those offended need to get over it.

  • You be the judge.

Katherine apologized, so can we move on -- or nah?
