Poor little princess! During Saturday's Trooping the Color celebration, Princess Charlotte had a frightening moment -- but fortunately for her, Kate Middleton was there to offer comfort. While excitedly peeking over the balcony to see a plane fly by, Charlotte lost her balance and started falling backwards. The little princess futilely tried to steady herself, but thankfully mum was right there to catch her.

  • Fortunately, Charlotte's fall wasn't TOO bad -- but who wants to take a tumble on the Buckingham Palace balcony while thousands of people are watching?

Charlotte was likely more startled than hurt, so it was a good thing Kate was there to offer some snuggles right away.

  • Look how shaken up the poor girl looks!

And look at Aunt Meghan in the background looking over to see what happened.

  • Aww, a few cuddles from mom and everything is OK.

Love seeing the Duchess immediately jump into mom-mode, regardless of the fact that she's on the Buckingham Palace balcony, celebrating Queen Elizabeth's birthday.

  • Thankfully, Princess Charlotte is perfectly fine and her fall wasn't all that big a deal.

But when you're 3 and lose your balance, you just want your mom -- regardless of where you are or who's watching.
