Meghan Markle may be new to the royal family, but Queen Elizabeth is already making it clear that she is part of the inner circle. According to the royal family website, the Duchess of Sussex is about to undertake her first public appearance without Prince Harry -- but she won't be on her own. Queen Elizabeth will be by her side.

  • On June 14, the sovereign will join the newlywed in officially opening the Mersey Gateway Bridge in Cheshire, opening the Storyhouse Theater in Chester, and attending a lunch at the Chester Town Hall.

According to The Telegraph, Meghan and Queen Elizabeth will officially commemorate the 1-year-old Storyhouse theater, which also serves as a cinema, community center, and library. It seems especially fitting for Meg's first solo appearance, given her background as an actress. She achieved her own success and fame long before meeting Harry, starring on the hit drama Suits

  • Of course we already knew Meghan had the queen's official blessing, since she couldn't even have married Harry without it.

According to royal rules, all family members in direct line of the throne must have the sovereign's permission before tying the knot. The queen declared her royal consent in March, just two months before the nuptials took place.

Her official statement read, "I declare my consent to a contract of matrimony between my most dearly beloved grandson Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales and Rachel Meghan Markle, which I consent I am causing to be signified under the Great Seal and to be entered in the books of the Privy Council."

  • While the Chester visit will be Meghan's first royal appearance without Prince Harry, it will hard be her first with Queen Elizabeth.

She also attended the Commonwealth Day Service with the royal family, and just days after the wedding, she made her first appearance as the Duchess of Sussex at a Buckingham Palace garden party honoring Prince Charles.

She also attended Christmas festivities with the royals, attending the queen's Christmas lunch at the palace, as well as joining Harry on the family getaway to the queen's Sandringham estate.

  • Meghan Markle may not look like what we've come to expect from the royal family, but it's clear she's making her mark and fitting in just fine.

We doubt the queen would be taking her under her wing on her first solo appearance like this if she wasn't quite fond of her new granddaughter-in-law.
