The royal wedding has finally come and gone, and one big question has remained -- what was up with Meghan Markle's hair? She's long been a fan of an easy, relaxed look, but some people were expecting a bit more ... structure ... to her coif on her wedding day. Instead, she showed up with her signature messy bun, and people got so upset about it, that now her hair stylist has actually spoken out about the style.

  • After Meg made her appearance at Windsor Castle on Saturday morning, fans jumped on social media to start tearing her hair apart.

It's not the first time Meg has taken heat for her "sloppy" hair either. She's been photographed a number of times out and about with Prince Harry sporting a half-undone look. Reviews have been mixed, with some people hating on it, and others enjoying her more relaxed approach to her hairstyle.

  • People even directly called out her stylist.

We personally think this person must be blind, because Meg looked gorgeous, messy hair and all. Her skin was flawless -- who needs a tons of makeup on top of that?

  • The hate over Meg's hair got so bad that her wedding hairdresser, Serge Normant, addressed the style the day after the wedding.

Revealing that Meghan's hair took less than an hour, Normant explained to reporters at Kensington Palace on Sunday, "It's a messy bun, we call it. Messy in a controlled way -- making sure it doesn't become a whole mess after a few hours!"

"Her style is so easy and not contrived," he continued, according to People. "I wasn't about reinvention. She has a beautiful head of hair and is gorgeous, so it was just easy ... I always think of Audrey Hepburn -- little '60s things. I didn’t want to do anything set in a time frame -- too much volume -- that would look retro, I just wanted a loose and easy look, which is why we chose that loose bun."

Normant also shared how to achieve Meg's look at home. "I just used long, regular pins," he said. "Things that you could just find in the shop for a few pounds. People could recreate it at home, absolutely, maybe even better!" He also added, "a little mousse, a little texturizing product just to make it look a bit more shiny."

He concluded, "I dried it with a round brush and then used a little iron on the edges just to give it texture. And then put it up. Poof!"

  • Meghan may have had her hair critics, but all that really matter is that she was happy on her big day -- and apparently she loved her look.

Her hairstylist said, "She was thrilled, very happy," about how her hair turned out. And we have to agree -- it was perfect hair, and contributed to her overall look of incandescent happiness. Now that's what makes a beautiful bride.
