Meghan Markle's Baptism into the Church of England Didn't Quite Go as Planned

Welcome to the Church of England! On Tuesday, Meghan Markle was baptized at St. James Palace. To offer moral support at the momentous occasion, Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla, and a friend of Meghan's were all present at the ceremony (as well as Prince Harry, obviously). However, a few key people were noticeably absent from the big day.

  • Neither Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, nor her father, Thomas Markle, made the trek to England for the event.

Initially, it was reported that both of Meghan's parents would be at her baptism

  • Two more no-shows? Prince William and Kate Middleton.

  • No, in all seriousness, Meghan and Kate reportedly get on famously, so it's likely that the duke and duchess just had something else to do.

Meghan's baptism is the latest step towards becoming an official royal. In early February, she attended an awards ceremony with Harry, and just last week, the "Fab Four" (Kate, William, Meghan, and Harry) made their first appearance together at the Royal Foundation Forum. She's so close!

  • While it would have been nice to have her parents and the duke and duchess present for the big day, it's doubtful Meghan will lose any sleep over their absence. She's a big girl -- and a future duchess -- after all.
