Josiah Duggar & Lauren Swanson May Have Just Gotten Caught Breaking Courtship Rules

It's only been days since Josiah Duggar and Lauren Swanson announced they were courting, and their relationship has already sparked all sorts of scandal. For example, rumors started flying that Josiah and Lauren were already on a romantic getaway together, despite not even being engaged yet, let alone married.

  • It turns out that the trip was pretty gosh darn innocent though, as Lauren was heavily supervised by multiple Duggar family members on a trip Down Under.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, along with several of their 19 children, have been touring Australia and New Zealand with the Institute of Biblical Life Principles, the controversial religious group they've been associated with for years. They invited Lauren to join.

Say what you will about the IBLP, we'd hardly qualify this as a romantic getaway.

  • But it looks like they did get some canoodling in! A photographer caught the courtin' couple looking awfully close at a tourist hotspot.

While visiting the Waiouru Army Museum in New Zealand, they got awfully handsy. Not only did they appear to be holding hands, they also put their faces within kissing distance of each other, and he even fully put his hands on her waist as he helped her down from climbing on one of the tanks.

  • It looks like Josiah may be taking after Jinger in the courtship rule-breaking department.

Strict Duggar courtship rules dictate that couples not hold hands until they're engaged, and not kiss -- or even front-hug -- until they're married. Clearly, some rules were being tossed out the window here.

It reminds us of the time Jinger was visiting with Jeremy Vuolo before they were married, and he sat down next to her on the couch and put his arm around her

  • Then again, these photos are pretty tame by "normal" standards.

We'd bet money that they haven't even kissed yet. And to be honest, if they had, it's not like it's anyone's business anyway. Josiah and Lauren, you do what feels right to you -- even if it means holding hands and hugging. We're pretty sure it's OK.
