Kate, with Prince William and Prince Harry, founded the Heads Together campaign. Its aim is to help children, as it was discovered that more than half of mental health issues begin before a person is 14 years old. Kate’s mission is to remove the stigma surrounding mental health, and her many initiatives are helping to create change and truly help people.

"We know that mental health is an issue for us all -- children and parents, young and old, men and women -- of all backgrounds and of all circumstances," Kate said at the meeting, according to People. "What we have seen first-hand is that the simple act of having a conversation about mental health -- that initial breaking of the silence -- can make a real difference. But, as you here today know: starting a conversation is just that -- it's a start."

"My own commitment is to the youngest, most vulnerable in their early years -- babies, toddlers, and school children," she continued. Kate went on to discuss how we have to take mental health as serious as physical health, and that early intervention has proven to have positive results.

This initiative is being rolled out in many schools and there will be a website detailing informations for educators. There will be four areas of focus: teaching resources, risks and protective factors, mental health needs, and whole school approach for school leaders.

Last year, Kate spoke openly about challenges she faced in motherhood. She said that she dealt with not feeling confident and "feelings of ignorance." What's beautiful about Kate's revelations is that she is letting people know that no one is exempt from these types of feelings. And she also noted how she knows she is privileged and has a lot of support, while others do not.

  • Kate's dedication is needed.

Kate is very sensitive to this and also wants to raise awareness so those who need help seek it out, and it’s all part of her mission to make sure that there is help available for everyone.

Like she says, this is something that is layered and takes a lot of time to work through. Opening up the conversation and working to destigmatize mental health is a great start, but there is a lot of work to be done. It's clear she's dedicated to this cause and it's making a difference.
