Earlier this week, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West welcomed their new baby girl into the world. The baby was born via surrogate, and although most people are extremely happy for the family, of course there are people out there who always have something negative to say.

  • On Wednesday, Kim posted one of her usual Yeezy outfit pictures, but she sweetly captioned it: "#Momofthree."

  • Most fans congratulated Kim and Kanye for their new arrival. However, some commenters seemed to think that since Kim didn't birth her third child, she isn't actually a mother of three.

  • Are you kidding me right now?

  • Now it seems that Kim has responded to her haters by explaining more about her surrogacy process.

According to PeopleKim wrote on her website on Thursday:

“I have always been really honest about my struggles with pregnancy. Preeclampsia and placenta accreta are high-risk conditions, so when I wanted to have a third baby, doctors said that it wasn’t safe for my -- or the baby’s -- health to carry on my own. After exploring many options, Kanye and I decided to use a gestational carrier. Although I have used the term surrogate in the past, a gestational carrier is actually the technical term for a woman who carries a baby that she has no biological relationship to.”

    She continued:
"A traditional surrogate donates her egg, is artificially inseminated with the father’s sperm and then carries the baby to term. Since we implanted my fertilized egg in our gestational carrier, our baby is biologically mine and Kanye’s. You can either choose someone that you know or you can go through an agency, like Kanye and I did. Having a gestational carrier is definitely different, but anyone who says or thinks it’s the easy way out is completely wrong. People assume it’s better because you don’t have to deal with the physical changes, pain or complications with delivery, but for me it was so hard to not carry my own child, especially after I carried North and Saint.”
  • Kim went on to thank her gestational carrier, saying that she "absolutley loves" her.

Anyone who thinks that Kim is not rightfully a mother of three is sadly mistaken. But, although Kim and Kanye's new baby is biologically both of theirs, that doesn't mean that any mother who is not biologically related to their kid is any less of a mother.

Whether someone is a stepparent, an adoptive parent, or had a baby via surrogate, no one has the right to tell them that one of their children "doesn't count."
