"Baby kangaroos belong in their mothers' pouches, not in gift bags," Colleen O'Brien, PETA vice president, writes in the company's press release. "These joeys have complex needs, including specialized diets and room to roam -- they are not toys and will only become more difficult to care for as they grow older. PETA is calling for an investigation into where these kangaroos came from and stands ready to help Luke Bryan right this wrong and move these vulnerable marsupials to a reputable sanctuary."

Us Weekly notes the National Kangaroo Protection Coalition also disagrees with kangaroos as pets. "Reports we receive indicate that the death toll is very high amongst these animals, as they quite often they are restrained in small yards," the website mentions. "Few oversees veterinarians know anything about them, and macropods do succumb very easily to stress-related diseases."

  • While many are upset about people domesticating wild animals, some believe the Bryans will use the kangaroos for a good cause.

Some of both Luke and Caroline's followers note Brett's Barn, a foundation that honors the couple's niece and raises awareness for congenital heart disease and Down Syndrome, will likely use the kangaroos for visiting children and families. Brett Boyer, the daughter of Caroline's brother, lost her battle with a heart disease at 7 months, inspiring this family to pay it forward in an incredible way.

Earlier this month, Caroline revealed on Instagram Brett's Barn is now home to two mini llamas a young child and heart transplant recipient named Caleb requested.

  • And don't feel Luke or Caroline deserve so much criticism.
