Princess Charlotte's Enrollment at Fancy Tennis Club Isn't Sitting Well With Members

Like mother, like daughter. Just as Kate Middleton is mad about tennis, Princess Charlotte is, as well. Apparently one-upping her mother, though, Charlotte has already demonstrated natural tennis skills in her brief life. In fact, the little princess is reportedly so handy with a racket that the duke and duchess enrolled her in lessons at an ultra-posh country club. But despite the clout the royal family comes with, members aren't happy about Charlotte's presence.

  • After saying she's shown signs of being a "natural player," William and Kate enrolled Charlotte in lessons at the fancy-pants Hurlingham Club in Southwest London.

The Hurlingham, founded in 1869, boasts itself as being one of "England's greatest private members' clubs."

While this may seem a little elaborate for a 2-year-old, the duke and duchess really believe in Charlotte. "Kate and William decided the Hurlingham was the perfect place for Charlotte to start," an insider told the Sun. "She might not be 3 until May but they were convinced she'd love it and so far she has. She seems a bit of a natural."

  • Here's the thing, though: William and Kate aren't members of the posh club, and technically speaking, only friends and relatives of members can play tennis at the club.

In other words, Charlotte's just there because she's a royal.

  • Longtime members of the club feel that there should be no exceptions to this rule -- not even for an heir to the throne.

"Unfortunately some patrons feel Charlotte shouldn’t be allowed to play there. Club rules are usually very rigid, and they don’t see why exceptions should be made, even if they happen to be royal," the source said.

  • Kensington Palace has yet to comment on the "controversy," but let's be honest here: It's doubtful they ever will.

Also doubtful: That they give a flying monkey's bum about it.
