Beyonce Bowed Down to Meghan Markle & Honored Her Like the Queen That She Is
Just in case you needed another reason to adore Beyonce, here it is -- apparently she and Jay-Z love Meghan Markle as much as the rest of us do!] Beyonce paid tribute to Meghan on Wednesday with a post on her website and a really cool photo and video on her Instagram, and we're still dying over how awesome all of this is.
Beyonce shared this photo of her and Jay-Z standing in front of a portrait of Meghan where the Mona Lisa should be.
It was to celebrate their win at the Brits, and they wanted to recognize Meghan as one of their "Melonated Monas" in honor of Black History Month. And honestly, what better way to do it than this? Meghan is pretty amazing, and she's blazed a very impressive trail of her own by being an American woman of color who married into the royal family.
And on Beyonce's website, she sung Meghan's praises, opening up about the work she does.
She wrote:
"As a global ambassador for World Vision, she traveled to Rwanda to see how access to clean, safe water impacts children, an issue that is near and dear to our hearts. She also visited and supported the Myna Mahila Foundation in Mumbai, an organization that helps solve the menstruation challenges many women and girls in the community face."
And then, she talked about what it means for Meghan to be part of the royal family.
"Meghan brought many Black traditions to her Royal Wedding including a Chicago-based Black pastor, an amazing gospel choir, and a young Black cellist," Beyonce wrote. "At the wedding her culture was front and center, and she and Prince Harry have continued to push the race relations dialogue forward both near and far."
So true -- and they're still starting those conversations, and it has potential to change so much in the world for the better.
