It hasn't been long since Kim Kardashian joined her sister Kylie Jenner in the cosmetics world with the launch of her KKW Beauty line. Back in June, the launch was hit with controversy as people across social media thought one of her promotional shots was in blackface. Now, on an upcoming episode of Keeping Up With the Karadshians, we will get to see how Kim reacted to it

  • When this photo appeared on social media, users were quick to call her out for perpetuating racism by having a significantly darkened skin tone.

  • People posted multiple photos comparing her natural skin tone to that of the beauty ad. Kim eventually apologized for the photo.

In an interview with New York Times, Kim said:

"I would obviously never want to offend anyone. I used an amazing photographer and a team of people. I was really tan when we shot the images, and it might be that the contrast was off. But I showed the image to many people, to many in the business. No one brought that to our attention. No one mentioned it.

"Of course, I have the utmost respect for why people might feel the way they did. But we made the necessary changes to that photo and the rest of the photos. We saw the problem, and we adapted and changed right away. Definitely I have learned from it."

  • In the upcoming episode of "KUWTK," we will see how Kim dealt with the backlash.

In a preview clip, Kim says to her assistant Steph Shepherd:

"People are saying I'm doing blackface. I did a photoshoot, there were some people online saying the photos were inappropriate."

    Stephanie responds:

"What do you do? It's already out."

  • This isn't the first time the Karadshians have gotten heat for cultural appropriation, but we do hope that Kim is learning to be more aware.

Kim did ultimately take down most of the photos and release a statement.

It will be interesting to see how she handled the situation at the time on this week's episode.
