It's no secret that the Middleton sisters enjoy slender physiques, gorgeous hair, and smiles that could brighten any room. Now the girls' uncle has explained that it's more than genetics at play -- it's apparently all about how they were raised by Carole Middleton.

Gary Goldsmith, younger brother to Carole and uncle to Kate and Pippa, is currently undergoing a weight-loss challenge for a good cause. He's raising money for the Opera Global Youth Foundation, and he recently dished on how the women in his family stay so fit and healthy.

He also confessed that the healthy habits of the Middleton women inspired his own weight-loss journey. He wrote on his blog, "A few years back someone asked me why I was super-sized when my family [is] so slim? 'Charming,' I thought, but it did strike a chord."

"The family they were referring to was obviously my sister Carole Middleton and my nieces Kate and Pippa," he continued. "Carole has always looked after herself and eaten healthily and she has a stunning figure and that mentality of considering your diet and exercise is evident in the girls also."

So it's as simple as that! Carole has good habits when it comes to health, nutrition, and physical activity, and it's something she passed on to her daughters. We're sure some of that may be genetic, but there's also a lot to say about lifestyle habits.

After all, Mr. Goldsmith shares genetics with the Middletons too -- and by his own omission he hasn't always been trim and fit. Good for him getting in shape, and giving the women in his life credit for their dedication to health, rather than brushing off their fit figures as "good luck."
