Well, it's that time of year again. Back-to-school season is upon us -- and the royals, too. Next Thursday, Prince George will start "big school" at Thomas's Battersea, and like most mums and dads, Prince William and Kate Middleton will be dropping him off on the big day. So cute!

The duke and duchess will be met by the Head of Lower School, Helen Haslem, who will then show them to Prince George's classroom. (Just like us!) The little prince will join a class that has both boys and girls and costs about $23,000 per year. According to the Good Schools Guide, Thomas's Battersea is "the best English education money can buy." Apparently, though, the school is so competitive that parents are advised to register their children at birth! Wonder if William and Kate had any trouble getting George in?

More from CafeMom:

Just as every other student is required, George had to take an assessment last November in order to start this year. According to a report, the school looks for children who "have a measure of confidence, are responsive, sociable, with a light in their eyes." From all accounts, seems like George meets those requirements.

In addition to presumably doing all the normal things kids do at preschool -- music, arts and crafts, story time -- the future king will be taking French from the get-go, as well. Later on, he'll be taking Latin.

William and Kate are extremely hands-on parents, so it's no surprise that they'll be taking their eldest to school on his first day. But even more impressive is that the duchess is set on doing the school run as often as she can. Wonder if she'll ever wake up late and say "screw it!" and head out in her pajamas. Here's hoping.
