Jill Duggar & Derick Dillard's Days on TLC May Be Numbered

Did he go too far? Derick Dillard has been making headlines in the past month, not for the birth of his new baby son, but for deliberately bullying a teen transgender girl on social media.

Because of course he had to go there. Because Derick apparently has no clue that it's not OK to go after a 16-year-old old on Twitter, he tweeted the star of I Am Jazz, TLC's show chronicling the life of a young trans person as she navigates through some really challenging situations.

"What an oxymoron ... a 'reality' show which follows a non-reality. 'Transgender' is a myth. Gender is not fluid; it's ordained by God," Derick tweeted. When he was called out for bullying a kid, he mis-gendered Jazz by responding, "I have nothing against him," and continued to argue that gender is God-ordained.

An insider told The Hollywood Gossip that TLC was not happy about Derick's comments, and may be looking to axe him and his family from Counting On. "They're probably not too long for TLC. My feeling is that they'll probably get axed soon because of this Jazz situation," the source explained. "[Derick] opened up a can of worms that he never, ever, ever should've cracked a lid on."

Adding fuel to the fire is the latest promo image for the show from TLC. The new season starts next month on September 11, and while the show has largely focused on Jill and Derick in the past, they're nowhere to be found in this image.

Instead we see Jill's sisters Jinger and Jessa, with their husbands, Jeremy Vuolo and Ben Seewald. Of course it could be coincidence that those were the two couples that TLC chose to focus on for this particular promo, but after all the drama with Derick, it could be indicative of big changes coming to the programming.

We can see how TLC might want to get ahead of any public outcry regarding Derick's continued presence on the show. After all, they had to shut down 19 Kids and Counting two years ago after Josh Duggar's multiple sex scandals.

We'll just have to wait and see how much screen time Jill and Derick get this season ... if any.
