Derick Dillard Accused of Mooching Off the Duggar Family

Derick Dillard and Jill Duggar

There have been a lot of questions about the nature of Jill (Duggar) and Derick Dillard's missionary work in the two years since they headed off to El Salvador. The Dillards seem to be under fire again, as another source has come forward and claimed that the family mooches off the Duggar name to solicit funds for a mission they're unqualified to serve.

Since 2015, Jill and Derick have spent a lot of their time in El Salvador, where they serve as missionaries. However, it's been a tough road for them, as they're not licensed missionaries, and were reportedly turned away from proper missionary organizations for lack of training.

How they've funded their trips has been another point of contention, as it seems they've embellished their qualifications in order to solicit donations from fans. Many people have also wondered why they'd need to ask for donations, instead of using the money TLC pays them to appear on Counting On.

An insider recently came forward and told The Hollywood Gossip that Derick and Jill's "deceptions" are well known in the family's inner circle. "They go on a mission, they're not sponsored by any church whatsoever, and they go, and they solicit money from people, they ask for donations," the source revealed.

"Of course, they have money coming from Counting On, but Derick, to my knowledge, has never had a job." Apparently this source isn't that well informed, considering that Derick worked as an accountant for Walmart before taking off for Central America, and has subbed at the local high school occasionally when they've been back in town.

Anyway, the insider wondered if TLC was footing the bill for their mission trips just for the ratings. "I just wonder what the reasoning for it is. Are they [TLC] doing it for capital gain? Ever since I've learned so much about Jim Bob and how he truly is, I second-guess everything," the source shared.

They also described Derick as "mooch" who won't get a full-time job to support his family. "Derick is just hanging on to someone's shirttails," the insider lamented. "Disgusts me. They used to be pretty well thought of."

Derick and Jill are currently home in Arkansas, having welcomed their second son just a few weeks ago. They have made their plans to return to the mission field clear, but haven't said when or where. Here's to hoping they decide to get the proper qualifications before setting out again. It would be nice to see an established organization back them.
