Prince Harry has always marched to the beat of his own drum, so this new rumor wouldn't surprise us at all if it turns out to be true. An insider has reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might skip a showy royal wedding and elope instead.

Apparently, the two have the option of getting hitched at Westminster Abbey like his brother and sister-in-law did in 2011, but a William and Catherine–style affair might not be what they really have in mind to celebrate their union.

Instead they may decide to keep the whole event low-key and under the radar. A source revealed to Us Weekly that Harry has already suggested to his love of 13 months "that they could get married somewhere private and elope rather than have a showy wedding."

Of course Meghan has been married before (she wed talent manager Trevor Engelson on a Jamaican beach in 2011), and it's not uncommon for second-time brides to keep their weddings more toned down, but it's not every day you marry a prince! Plus, we selfishly really, really want to see the pictures.

Wherever they decide to have their wedding, it looks like it could be sooner rather than later, with the source pointing to a potential engagement date of August 4 -- Markle's 36th birthday. August would also have significant meaning for Harry, who lost his mother, Princess Diana, 20 years ago during the month. The insider explained to Us, "He feels getting engaged will lift that gloom forever because he will be able to associate August with something joyful."

We can't blame him a bit. And we're not giving up our hope of an extravagant affair quite yet.
