The family that travels together, stays together? It recently was announced that Prince William and Kate Middleton will be taking Prince George and Princess Charlotte on their upcoming tour of Germany and Poland. Buckingham Palace made the surprise announcement on Monday after the duke and duchess saw the itinerary of the tour and thought, "Hey, we can totally take the kids to this!" Or, you know, whatever the fancy version of that is.

The couple's upcoming royal tour is set to last five days from July 17 to 21. According to People, a spokesperson for William and Kate said at a palace briefing, "They have decided that their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, will travel with them and we expect the children to be seen in at least a couple of occasions over the course of the week."

While the duke and duchess are off tending to official duties, George and Charlotte will be with nanny Maria Turrion Borrallo at the Belvedere Palace in Warsaw, and at the residence of the British ambassador in Berlin when the family is in Germany.

Part of the reason Will and Kate are taking their kids on this trip is because it may be one of the last opportunities they have to take them both away at the same time for a while. George is set to start full-time school in September, and not every tour will land during a holiday week (as this one did). "It's fair to say that school will make this more complicated in the future," the spokesman said. "But they are delighted that the program worked out this time for them to take George and Charlotte."

Look at that. The duke and duchess make holiday arrangements around school schedules just like us. Kind of.

Trips with young children are rarely very relaxing, but with their trusty nanny in tow, William and Kate will be able to tend to all of their royal duties and get in some quality family time. And let's be honest, seeing little George and Charlotte on tour always makes things a little more exciting -- for us spectators, at least.

Bon voyage, guys!
