Jill Duggar Admits She's Far From a Perfect Parent

She still has a lot to learn, and she isn't afraid to admit it. Alongside her husband Derick, Jill (Duggar) Dillard recently talked about parenthood in an interview for TLC, and what she had to say was pretty refreshingly honest.

The Counting On stars are parents to 2-year-old Israel, and they're expecting a second son in July. Jill explained that although she may have had an advantage being one of the eldest of a gaggle of siblings, "it's totally different when it's your own kid."

Word. There's a certain sense of responsibility that just doesn't exist unless it's your own child that you're 100 percent responsible for. But there's also a lot of rewarding stuff that comes with parenthood too. Derick said, "We really love being parents and I think just seeing, as a father specifically, like I enjoy seeing his development and being able to teach him new things."

They also said that they're enjoying watching him learn to say things like "thank you" and "I love you," but that they can already see him trying to get away with things with the power of his words.

It's a game all parents know well! Despite learning the ropes, the parents admitted that they still have a lot to learn. Derick said they're "relatively new parents," and Jill confessed that only her mom might be qualified to dish out advice about having multiple children.

Jill said, "You learn things as you go along. We're far from mastering any skill of parenting, but we do pick up on little tips here and there from Derick's mom, my mom. We're always asking questions of other people."
