December 11 was the 22nd annual Critics' Choice Awards, and it really, really didn't let us down. All the awards went to well-deserving recipients, but that's hardly the most exciting part -- the fashion on the red carpet (or, well, the carpet was blue, but you know what we mean) was a little bit daring this year, and that's something that's always thrilling to see.

So with that said, we have our own awards to give out: Here are our 16 favorite looks from last night. You'll find that while some classics definitely caught our eye, the looks that broke molds are the ones still on our minds this morning.

  • Viola Davis

    1

Viola Davis won on all fronts at the Critics' Choice Awards this year: Her sparkly blue Michael Kors gown and Irene Neuwirth jewelry were killer, she took home the award for Best Supporting Actress for Fences, and she won the #SeeHer award. And that's not even it -- her acceptance speech was so moving and beautiful, it's been making headlines all morning.

  • Kate Beckinsale

    2

Kate Beckinsale's sparkly, gauzy, super sheer gown was designed by Reem Acra, and it was probably one of our favorites of the night. She was there as a nominee for Best Actress in a Comedy for Love & Friendship.

  • Ariel Winter

    3

Modern Family star Ariel Winter's embroidered Uel Camilo gown featured two super flattering cutouts on the sides and a sheer back. All that plus a top knot and (faux? or new?) bangs added up to a really sleek look, and we loved it.

  • Kerry Washington

    4

The sheer part of Kerry Washington's black Ellie Saab dress has stars on it because she's a star. Get it? We just came up with that. Anyway, we love how flirty and fun Kerry's look was at the Critics' Choice Awards -- we usually get a lot of sophisticated glam from her (not that that's a bad thing), and we loved seeing something different.

  • Mandy Moore

    5

As much as we love frills and accents and extras, there's something stunning about simplicity -- especially when it comes in the form of a gown so striking as Mandy Moore's from Solace London. Even her accessories were simple -- she wore nothing except for small diamond earrings and a long, thin necklace, and it all pulled together perfectly.

  • Tatiana Maslany

    6

There's something so old-fashioned and charming about Tatiana Maslany's ankle-length Hugo Boss dress, and we're obsessed. Tatiana doesn't make red carpet appearances very often, but her looks are always eye-catching when she does, and this one's no different.

  • Kylie Bunbury

    7

It feels like forever since we've seen a really striking emerald gown on the red carpet, but Pitch's Kylie Bunbury gave us whatever we were missing and more. With it's draping bodice and thigh-high slit (and that diamond choker!), Kylie and her Kayat dress were a no-brainer for our best dressed list.

  • Evan Rachel Wood

    8

We're so glad Westworld brought Evan Rachel Wood back into our lives, if only so we could have this chance to gawk at the belted black Altuzarra pantsuit she wore to the Critics Choice Awards. It went perfectly with her side-swept hair and Anita Ko jewelry, even if it's a little bit different from the cowboy-era dresses we were just getting used to seeing on her.

  • Janelle Monae

    9

We don't know how Janelle Monae manages to wear the same two colors to every red carpet and come across looking entirely different every time, but she does. And we love all her looks -- but maybe especially this black and white checkered gown (with a slit in the front and a cinched waist), with a Emm Kuo clutch, a bold choker, and double buns on top of her head.

  • Chrissy Metz

    10

This Is Us star Chrissy Metz rocked a gorgeous floral gown to the Critics' Choice Awards and it made us remember how much we love seeing bright colors on the red carpet (and how little we get the opportunity to). With its pops of bright blue and yellow (plus that lacey burgundy trim!), Chrissy's dress easily scored a spot on our favorites list this year.

  • Lily Collins

    11

We're getting serious Corpse Bride vibes from Lily Collins's silvery Ellie Saab dress, and we really, really don't hate it. She accentuated her pale skin and dark eyes and lips to create that eeriely stunning look, and we're definitely here for it. We mean, come on. Can you blame us?

  • Constance Wu

    12

We like florals, but we LOVE floral accents. Exhibit A: Constance Wu's ruffled mermaid dress, which hides some beautiful flower accents in its folds. This work of art is by Johanna Ortiz, and Constance wears it well with EF Collection bracelet and rings and Graziela Gems earrings.

  • Emma Stone

    13

It'd be really difficult to find an Emma Stone look we didn't love, but we still feel like we have to talk about how much we love each one. Like with this mermaid Roland Mouret gown -- we really need to take a sec to spell out how wonderful the halter, the bandana-like top, and the glittery accents on the skirt all are.

  • Tracee Ellis Ross

    14

Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross rocked a Zuhair Murad number for the Critics' Choice Awards. It was fun and different -- we hardly ever see this much pastel or macrame on the red carpet -- and it really worked for us. Plus, her really high heels and eye-catching jewelry added a little formality to the whole look, and Tracee looked like she was just where she belonged.

  • Auli'i Cravalho

    15

Auli'i Cravalho is just 16, and so far, her only credit is voicing Moana in Disney's latest movie. But she did such an incredible job in Moana -- then completely stole the show at the Critics' Choice Awards in her black and white high-low gown and signature plumeria flower -- that she pretty much guaranteed we'll be obsessed with whatever project she takes on next.

  • Allison Williams

    16

We know -- and Allison Williams knows -- that she'll look incredible in any basic dress she puts on. So it was a little bit of a risk for her to try this black and blue art deco–inspired Balmain dress, but it really works for us. It's something different, and we're always here for that.
