One Direction's Louis Tomlinson Tragically Loses His Mom -- She Was Only 43

In really awful, tragic news, One Direction's Louis Tomlinson's mom, Johannah Deakin, died on December 7 from leukemia. If you're thinking there's no way that's possible because those boys are so young, you should be right. Louis is only 24 and his mom was just 43 when she died. Like we said, tragic.

Even sadder is the fact that Johannah died less than a year after Louis's son, Freddie Reign Tomlinson, was born. She didn't get the chance to be a grandmother for nearly long enough (or a mom, really -- her youngest twins were only 2), and we can't imagine how hard it must be for Louis to lose his mom during such a critical time in his own life.

Here's a bit of the statement Dan Deakin, her husband, released about Johannah's passing:

Johannah was first and foremost a truly amazing mother to seven children -- Louis, Lottie, Felicite, and two sets of twins, Phoebe and Daisy and Ernest and Doris -- whose individual talents and success are testament to the principles and beliefs she instilled in them .... Incredibly selfless, she would always look to put other people before herself. She desired nothing more than for everyone around her to be happy and loving.

Johannah sounds like an incredible person and we're so sorry for Louis's family. But we're glad Louis has friends around him to support him:

And we're also so glad Johannah had the opportunity to celebrate Louis's successes with him. Louis posted this photo a few weeks ago of the two of them before the Brit Awards in February:

My mother looking gorgeous before the Brits earlier this year . I love you and miss you so much !
