Some actresses seem to grow perennially more beautiful, and this mom is one of them. Katie Holmes stunned in a gorgeous Zac Posen gown while showing off a sleek new hairdo -- complete with bangs -- outside the Cinema Society screening of her new film All We Had in Manhattan.

Turning Annie Weatherwax's novel into a film marks Holmes's full-length directorial debut, making the evening that much more special for the 37-year-old.

One might argue that the Dawson's Creek alum has never looked better -- take a peek:

Her blue shoes added a lovely and unexpected pop of additional color -- we're swooning.

Though her new hairstyle looks fresh and fabulous, who knows if it will stick around long. According to People, the former Mrs. Tom Cruise is just experimenting with faux bangs again. (Wish all my hair experiments turned out this well!) However, her hairstylist did share that this was a "trial run" and they're waiting for the right time to make the move. So, we'll have to see if last night's look is a keeper!

Holmes gave her little girl a special shout-out at the end of the film and explained to Business Insider what her message -- "Dreams come true" -- was all about:

She's my daughter, she's very, very special to me, and this project took a lot of time and because it's my first feature I wanted her to know that she's so special to me. I thought that as she gets old that will mean more to her, that she's always the most important, and I wanted to give her a special thanks because she means everything to me.

That's so sweet. No doubt this project took tons of time and effort, so it's wonderful that Holmes is letting her daughter know in such a public way that she remains the most important thing in her mother's life.

At the same time, what a wonderful example to set for her daughter. To stretch herself by pursuing directing and acting at the same, while working on telling a story that is close to her heart, truly had to be a dream come true -- and one that lets Suri know anything is possible for a determined and talented woman.
