Gigi Hadid's Mom Gives Zayn Malik the OK in an Adorably Embarrassing Post

Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid

Ever since high school when our moms forced our dates to come inside and meet the fam, our mom's approval has been -- and almost always will be -- necessary. The only difference between now and then is that, as teenagers, we didn't care for her blessing as much as we do as adults. But we will always need it. After all, we all know moms have a hard time remaining mum on these things (especially when she disapproves). That's why we found it super adorable that Yolanda Hadid publicly gave her eldest daughter, Gigi Hadid, the thumbs-up on Gigi's boyfriend Zayn Malik.

While she didn't say it outright, the mere fact that she posted a picture of the couple being cutesy together on her Instagram account speaks volumes.

She captioned the photo, "Happiness is seeing your kids happy and realizing they turned out to be really good and genuine people........ #Family #Love."

Looking at that picture, we find Gigi's smile very telling -- it's raw and filled with a sincere happiness. That's all most moms ever want for their children -- and probably one of the reasons they think it's necessary to give you an earful when it comes to the details of your life.

Also, the fact that the photo seems completely genuine -- a quality difficult to find in Hollywood, since everything seems to be about keeping up appearances -- only makes us love it more. Given the world's usual obsessions, I find it very refreshing to see a family bond that's centered in love and support.

Between this and Gigi's crazy self-defense moves caught on camera recently, I'm falling hard and fast for the Hadids more and more each day.

However, as a FYI to other moms out there, I should warn that you shouldn't try this "posting photos of your kids'" thing at home. As a daughter, I'd probably freak if my mom posted a picture of me and a guy I've dated less than a year on Instagram. Just a friendly note. Carry on.
