Kate Winslet Is All of Us as She Tells Childhood Bullies to 'Look at Me Now'

Kate Winslet at British Awards

We sometimes get nostalgic and miss the good ol' days, until we recall exactly what those days entailed for some of us: bullying. I won't go into great detail, but I will say that kids are cruel. So with that said, Kate Winslet reminded us of the one thing that probably kept many of us going during those rough childhood years  -- revenge.

No, we're not talking about settling your beef with a roast sesh or even the kind that lands you in the loony bin, but the sweetest revenge you can dish out -- and that's simply being successful. Winslet told the Today show:

I was kind of bullied when I was younger -- for being chubby, and I had girls who were envious of me because I was acting a little bit as a teenager ... So this is my revenge. This right here. This lovely career that I have been blessed with. I have healthy children, I have a really happy life, so it's like, 'Look at me now, girls.'

This personally resonates with me, as someone who was often teased and definitely needed some reassurance that there was a greater plan for me. Although my mom tried to tell me that sucess was the best revenge, who really has delayed gratification down pat at 11 or even 16 for that matter? Not me.

And even growing up, as you see in movies in which the high school jock (or just the cool kid, in general) becomes this major loser later in life -- you never imagine it truly going down that way. You never imagine that a movie might be so realistically predicting the future of many. But, it sadly is. Most everyone who reigned back then -- well, they peak right there in high school in that little hometown.

Yes, I cherish the feeling of sweet-sweet revenge, but I'm not making this stuff up just to be cruel. Nope, it's been scientifically proven

However, hearing Kate Winslet say what I've been thinking for all of these years made me feel less petty now that I know someone out there shares these feelings of satisfaction years and years after the fact. Now, I can carry on with my evil laugh as I reign from my own successful throne (metaphorically speaking, that is).
