Watch Gigi Hadid Kick Serious Ass After Being Manhandled -- You'll Love Her for It

Gigi Hadid leaving the Max Mara show in Milan

I don't make a habit of keeping up with supermodel Gigi Hadid -- not outside of the basic rundown, anyway -- but after today I might have to rethink my stance. Call me a bandwagon fan, whatever, but she's definitely on my standing list of heroes from this point forward. After all of my rambling, you're probably wondering, why? Well, here it is! After being assaulted by a stranger (later identified as prankster Vitalii Sediuk), Gigi handled herself like a total badass

While she and her sister (Bella Hadid) were leaving the Max Mara show in Milan, Sediuk approached her from behind and grabbed her. Rightfully putting up a fight (a damn good one), Gigi jabbed the creep in the face with her elbow to free herself -- then proceeded to curse him out, asking, "Who the f*ck are you? You piece of sh*t."

One swift kick and an elbow was all it took to convince us she was a total badass. After the ordeal, the model took to her Twitter account to address the issue (after the Sun's bogus attempt to villainize her with a headline that referred to her self-defense tactics as "Not Model Behavior").

Checking the author directly, Gigi responded with this message:

To unknown article writer: fan?!!! The ACTUAL fans that were there can tell you what happened. I'm a HUMAN BEING -- and had EVERY RIGHT to defend myself. How dare that idiot thinks he has the right to man-handle a complete stranger. He ran quick tho.

While the publication later changed the headline to something less villainizing, it made it more evident than ever that women have little to no control over what happens to their bodies. Society doesn't want us to wear what we want OR defend it, regardless of circumstances.

Essentially (but not literally), they blamed her after the guy came up from behind her and grabbed her -- how was she supposed to react? Should she have been more ladylike? Seriously, we need to know, because we're clearly lacking the correct etiquette.

The answer is: just the way Gigi reacted. I don't know the last time that writer watched Taken or what her mother taught her to do in the case of stranger danger (mine taught me to aim for the balls), but as far as I'm concerned, that was it.

Sure, we later discovered that he wasn't a complete rando, but Gigi didn't know at the time. Why would anyone take that risk if they have the know-how to defend themselves?

She didn't wait for her bodyguards to come and rescue her, she didn't just scream and flail like a damsel in distress -- she kicked ass and took names later.

Perhaps it's time to change how we define "model behavior" or any other stereotypes we hold as to how women should react in regard to their own bodies.
