Jim Bob Duggar Is Worried That Jeremy Vuolo Can't Support Jinger

Jeremy VuoloIf you thought asking a future father-in-law for his daughter's hand in marriage was tough, just wait. Jeremy Vuolo was completely taken aback when Jim Bob Duggar recommended Jinger's fiancé get a second job over a joint family dinner in Laredo, Texas. To say things were awkward at the dinner table would be putting it nicely.

Jim Bob had no problem getting down to business regarding his daughter and Vuolo's finances at a Mexican restaurant in Jeremy's hometown. Speaking candidly on a recent episode of Counting On, papa Duggar asked:

Jeremy, being on the kind of modest pastor salary, when you get married, it's going to be a lot tighter, going from being a single guy to being a married guy, whenever that happens -- I'm not saying anytime soon. But Jinger loves to go thrift shopping, and it's expensive.

Pretty harmless, right?

After all, what father wouldn't have concerns about his daughter's well-being? It's only natural.

Well, the prodding didn't stop there as Jim Bob offered some money advice to his future son-in-law:

I was just curious about, financially and stuff ... I mean, you might have to have a part-time job, along with the pastor [gig], to make a go of it.

Tell us how you really feel, Dad!

As much as we get Jim Bob's intentions, perhaps such a discussion -- including the recommendation to seek additional employment -- would've been best in a private setting.

At least this way, Jeremy wouldn't feel like he's in the hot seat ... even though he was in the hot seat.

Who knows if Jeremy will actually take his father-in-law's advice and get another job. It's not exactly bad advice, as we all could stand to have a few more coins in the bank. Then again, we don't know what Jinger and Jeremy's financial plans are and how they'll tackle money issues.

Let's just wait to see how things unfold -- they haven't even been engaged for that long!
