Don't expect to see this star strutting her stuff at any future film premieres. Miley Cyrus says she's never walking a red carpet again, and the reason behind her decision is a noble yet surprising one. The actress and Voice coach is shifting her focus to more pressing matters -- and we admire her decision.
The "Party in the U.S.A." singer is turning her back on these flashy events because she's begun to view them as pretty trivial in light of other, larger life issues.
The 23-year-old Tennessee native explained to Elle why she's shunning the limelight.
"Why, when people are starving, am I on a carpet that's red? Because I'm 'important'? Because I'm 'famous'? That's not how I roll. It's like a skit -- it's like Zoolander," she said.
The on-again, off-again girlfiend/fiancée of Liam Hemsworth does have a point, and yet, her not showing up for red carpets isn't necessarily doing anything to help the hungry masses -- unless, of course, she donates the money she'd spend on a gown, hair, makeup, and limo to charity.
I'm playing this '60s revolutionary. Woody plays someone who grew up in the suburbs of New York. He's got an ice cream machine, and I'm like, People are starving and you're sitting here making ice cream?! That's my thing [in real life]. For a long time, I couldn't sleep because I just felt so guilty. I was covered in rashes because I was so stressed. Even today, I dropped my water on my hike and felt like such an a--hole. There are children being sold into sex slavery; how can I go on a hike right now?
Focusing on her foundation instead of the red carpet sounds like a great way to bring about the change she wishes to see in the world. We fully support her choice.
