Beyonce, 2016 VMAs

The MTV Video Music Awards has long signaled the end of the season with its celebration of some of the best songs and videos that have provided us with our summer soundtrack. But, nothing -- not even the excitement of the show itself -- can compare to what celebs bring to the red carpet.

And this time around, nearly every star who graced the red carpet tried his or her hand at bringing some smoking-hot sexiness to one of the last big events of the summer. In fact, if we had it our way, we'd put everyone there on this list. But since we can't -- here are the 17 fashion statements (some by celeb pairs) that we just couldn't get enough of at the 2016 Video Music Awards.

Britney returned to the VMA red carpet (and the stage!) for the first time in what seems like forever, wearing a little black dress compliments of Versace. With an asymmetrical flare, the dress hugged her body, while she kept her shoe-game simple with a pair of black point-toe pumps.

  • Beyonce & Blue Ivy

Beyoncé (who later gave us life with a 15-minute performance) wore a gorgeous, sheer Francesco Scognamiglio gown topped at the neckline with feathers -- and was accompanied by her 4-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, who adorably wore an extended tutu dress, accessorized by two french braids and a small crown. A simply gorge mother-daughter look!

  • Kanye West & Kim Kardashian

Kanye kept it simple with a white tee with "Famous" (of course) embroidered in small font on the chest and a pair of white pants. Kim Kardashian, though, stole the spotlight in this duo's look -- giving us beach vibes with her wet-'n'-wavy hair and a sheer, V-neck LBD that hung off one shoulder.

  • Nicki Minaj

Nicki showed off her curves in this stunning mermaid number, with sheer mesh along the perimeter of the gown and cutout panels that show off her cleavage (and then some). Allegedly her dress wasn't made for mobility and she needed a squad (including boyfriend Meek Mills) just for assistance, but she still managed to make this look as flawless as ever.

  • Amber Rose

Believe it or not, she actually toned it down a ton for this red carpet look. Amber kept it simple with a sexy low-cut pantsuit, showing off just a teeny bit of cleavage. The stunning look was topped off by a pair of sun shades and her signature platnum hair.

  • Hailey Baldwin

The model wore this sexy sheer Georges Chakra Couture jumpsuit with lace panel cutouts and detailed feather print throughout the fabric.

Swizz posed in his ripped white jeans, a blazer, and a black tee, while Alicia Keys reigned in a kimono-esque Just Cavalli dress that gave us fall vibes. However, one thing that particularly stood out about Keys this year was her bare face -- as she decided to literally go with the nude, makeup-free look she's promised.

Singer JoJo mesmerized us with her two-piece outfit. Her Erika Cavallini bottoms were flared, creating a pop of color with a glorious mustard-yellow against her simple black top.

  • Laura Perlongo & Nev Schulman

Nev, host of MTV reality show Catfish, matched his pregnant fiancée on the red carpet, as they both wore black pants and an olive/brown top. Of course, the outfits differ in that Laura wore an open top showing off her baby bump and accessorized it with a jeweled bikini piece. It's especially adorable how supportive Schulman was of the look, revealing that he feels pregnant women should still "embrace their curvy sexiness."
