Amy Schumer Admits the Met Gala Felt Like 'Punishment' & Yep, We Believe Her

Part of being an adult means being polite, and at times, being polite means bullsh*tting your way through events and pretentious small talk. Oftentimes, we find ourselves in this position for our career -- for the circus act that is networking. Now don't get me wrong, not all networking is as painful as I'm making it out to be, but on the off chance that said networking takes place at a snooze-fest of an event where you're just not interested in the topic at hand (so again, a snooze-fest), you might not be too excited about having to show up. Like Amy Schumer, for example, who admitted she found the Met Gala to be a bore.

Yep, Amy told Howard Stern that she wasn't into one of fashion's biggest nights -- like, not even a little bit. She said fashion isn't her "thing":

I don't think it's stupid; there's no moral reasoning .... It's just not my thing. I just have this sense of entitlement that I should be able to feel comfortable at all times, like I could go to bed at any moment in what I'm wearing.

And she didn't stop there: She compared the Gala to punishment and elaborated even more, admitting that, "It's people doing an impression of having a conversation ... I don't like the farce .... We're dressed up like a bunch of f*king a*sholes."

Truthfully, I couldn't agree more with her. I remember going to an event for work so boring that I couldn't even allow myself to sip wine because I knew it would definitely send me into a peaceful slumber. (Don't ever consider dousing your boredom out with booze.) So, I know her pain all too well. And even in a setting surrounded by some of my favorite celebrities, I imagine I'd look for the nearest exit to escape to ASAP ... after meeting Beyonce and the likes.

Like Amy, I have absolutely no interest in the world of fashion, so I commend her for not scratching her brains out while sitting through what seems like it could easily be an eternity on one of the more dull nights in the celebrity circle.

This whole thing puts this photo of Amy running off with a tray of donuts as she left the Met Gala into more context than ever before:

And after that, she made up for the fact that the event was so boring by later trolling with comically captioned photos on Instagram:

Schumer made it perfectly clear (to Beyonce, of course) that this would be her first and last Met Gala, but we can't help but laugh out loud at the fact that we're all just big kids on the inside parading around as mature adults. Really, we're just one boring event away from throwing a tantrum and pulling the fire alarm to escape the room.

I think it's a genius escape plan ... but to be fair, I don't think it would end well for anyone to try it -- not even Amy Schumer.
