Tom Hiddleston Seems to Know as Much About His Fling With Taylor Swift as We Do

Tom Hiddleston, bless his tender and innocent soul, is not THAT famous. Or at this point, we guess it'd be more accurate to say that Tom Hiddleston was not that famous. Now he is, thanks to his supposed relationship with Taylor Swift -- a relationship, we might add, that neither party seems very keen to talk about publicly. That's why we were shocked when Tom actually answered a question about his summer fling during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, even if he did answer it in a very British, very vague way.

Ostensibly, the interview was about some of Tom's new work, but we all know Taylor is the only really interesting thing in Tom's life these days. No disrespect to the projects he's working on, but ... yeah. When you're dating Taylor Swift, everything else is an afterthought.

To prove our point, we'll tell you that the good stuff starts around 19:10 so you can shamelessly skip over the rest:

The question came from a fan on Facebook, who wanted to know what he's learned about the celebrity spotlight after spending a summer sharing Taylor's.

It's an interesting question. Pre-Taylor, Tom was "famous" (almost exclusively on Tumblr) for being kind and polite. What kind of fame is that? Certainly not the kind that gets you 800K Instagram followers in less than a week. But post-Taylor, he can get hundreds of thousands of likes on a kind of lame Instagram photo about Loki. What a life.

Anyway, like we said: interesting question. His answer? Also interesting, even if we have to dig out what he's really saying from beneath layers of very unhelpful diplomacy.

Here's what we got to work with:

I don't know, maybe it's too soon to tell. Um, I've learned that there are many sides to a story, and that sometimes there are a lot of stories out there which are false, and the hardest thing is to try to not let those falsehoods affect your own life. That's what I would say.

Okay, so what we're hearing is that he's learning that people like to gossip and make up stories about celebs. Yes! Now he's getting it. We feel bad that he had to learn it this way, but he also wore an "I heart T.S." shirt, so we don't know what he expected other than rampant conspiracy theories.

Honestly, though, we're less than satisfied. Until we get a full-scale, genuinely honest sit-down interview with both of them discussing their love for each other and, like, which side of the bed the other sleeps on, we refuse to believe this relationship is not some sort of elaborate stunt.

Convince us, Hiddleswift. We're waiting.
