Kate Middleton's Mysterious Lace Dress Is Causing Quite the Commotion

kate middletonThe Duchess of Cambridge was in Thiepval, France, with husband Prince William and brother-in-law Prince Harry to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the Battle of the Somme at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Memorial. But no one could remember anything abut anything once they saw Kate's stunning lace dress.

The dress (or is it a two-piece?) was form-fitting and classy. That Peter Pan collar makes our hearts melt, and the slightly puffy shoulder detail takes the lace to a whole other level of femininity. It's a dress that we could see Princess Diana wearing.

Everyone is in a bit of a tizzy over this dress. No one seems to know where it came from -- is it Jenny Packham, McQueen, Temperley London, Zara?

Rumor has it that the lace is from the very same textile house where Kate acquired the lace for her wedding gown. And it's French, of course -- she is in France, so that's très fitting. The lace is from the House of Sophie Hallette, though we do not know who transformed the gorgeous cream and black fabric into this pretty knee-grazing number. We can expect knock-offs because that peplum is just way too perfect.

Kate (and her clothes) continue to never disappoint.
