Selma Blair's Humble Airplane Incident Apology Is Absolute Perfection

Selma Blair apologizes for outburst on planeLots of people do whatever it takes to get through a flight, but what happened to this actress serves as a good reminder not to mix drugs and alcohol. Selma Blair issued a heartfelt apology after having an odd mid-air episode that ended with her being carried off the plane on a stretcher.

Blair, 43, was traveling back from Cancun with her son, Arthur, and his father when she began crying and making odd statements about fearing a man and what he would do to her "private parts," according to what witnesses told TMZ.

But rather than denying the incident or hiring a publicist to discredit fellow passengers, Blair is owning it, asking for forgiveness, and letting others know her son is alright. She told Vanity Fair:

I made a big mistake yesterday. After a lovely trip with my son and his Dad, I mixed alcohol with medication, and that caused me to black out and led me to say and do things that I deeply regret. My son was with his Dad asleep with his headphones on, so there is that saving grace. I take this very seriously, and I apologize to all of the passengers and crew that I disturbed and am thankful to all of the people who helped me in the aftermath. I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes and am filled with shame over this incident. I am truly very sorry.

Wow, we love that the actress, who recently starred as Kris Jenner in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, is not only addressing this head-on, but also acknowledging that the "saving grace" is the fact that her son didn't hear her.

The proud mom shared an adorable photo of herself and her little guy as they embarked on their trip to Mexico for Father's Day weekend, probably never imagining her travels would take this bizarre turn.

We're leaving on a jet plane. Dad is already asleep. Not for long. Bwahahahha . #fathersdayweekend

It's also great that Blair talks about the dangers of mixing medication with alcohol. She's fortunate that nothing worse happened as a result of the combo.

While the incident is no doubt an unpleasant one for the Legally Blonde star to have experienced, let's hope her message resonates with others who've tried similar recipes while flying.
