Muhammad Ali's Daughter Laila Pays Tribute to Her Dad With Touching Photo

Muhammed and Laila Ali

As incredibly difficult as it is to lose a parent, sometimes there's comfort in knowing that your loved one is finally at peace. Laila Ali, Muhammad Ali's youngest daughter, opened up about the death of her famous father, who was known to many as "The Greatest."

The boxing legend died Friday, June 3, at the age of 74 after valiantly waging a 32-year battle with Parkinson's disease. Laila shared this adorable photo of her dad and her son, who looks like he'd be happy to follow in his grandfather's footsteps. And look at how much little Curtis Muhammad Conway Jr. resembles his proud granddad -- especially while wearing his boxing gloves -- in this stunning Louis Vuitton ad, shot by Annie Leibovitz.

As devastating as this must be for the Ali family, Laila appeared on the Today show and said she'd been preparing to lose her icon of a dad for years.

While noting that she will "miss him deeply," the 38-year-old said she knows he's in a better place, where he's once again able to do all the things he loved. That has to provide some measure of consolation at this sad time.

Laila also told Good Morning America that while the family put on a brave face, she often felt as if the man who is famous for saying he floated "like a butterfly" and stung "like a bee" was trapped inside his own body. It must have been excruciating for his kids to watch him suffer for decades, especially after knowing all Ali was once capable of achieving.
