19 Celebrity Couples Who Met on a Movie Set

They may not play footsie under a conference room table, lock lips in the office supply closet, exchange cute Post-It notes, or enjoy an after-hours roll atop an oak desk, but celebrities are by no means immune to workplace romances. In fact, some of the most charming and well-known celebrity couples started out as colleagues.

Most on-set romances involve infatuated leading actors. In other cases, however, sparks flew between celebrities and crew members, choreographers, cameramen, or production assistants, proving that A-listers can, in fact, fall in love with "regular" people. Check out some real-life love stories that can be traced back to film sets!

On the set of 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man, it was the actors playing Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy whose spider senses were tingling. Though they played it cool while promoting the film at Comic-Con in July 2011, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone looked smitten during a getaway to Santa Barbara weeks later. In October 2015, reports surfaced that the couple had split after four years, but rumors persist that the stars are still secretly seeing one another. Surely, the Amazing Spider-Man can pull off a reconciliation, right?

  • Jessica Alba & Cash Warren

Not all on-set love stories involve smitten co-stars. While playing Sue Storm in 2005's Fantastic Four, Jessica Alba fell for crew member Cash Warren. "I was actually attracted to his spirit and mind before it went to a physical place," Alba said of her initial feelings for Warren. The pair married in 2008 and have two daughters together: Honor, 7, and Haven, 4.

  • Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds met in March 2010 while filming superhero flick Green Lantern, but they didn't have a lightning-bolt on-set love. At the time, Lively was dating her Gossip Girl co-star Penn Badgley while Reynolds was married to Scarlett Johansson. By December 2010, both of their respective relationships ended, but the friends kept things platonic instead of running into each other's arms. In fact, in the following months, Lively was linked to Ryan Gosling and Leo DiCaprio while Reynolds was said to be courting Charlize Theron. In the fall of 2011, the two were finally spotted together and, clearly, they could no longer deny they were more than friends: within a year, they tied the knot.

  • Christina Aguilera & Matt Rutler

Even Xtina's co-star Cher called 2010's Burlesque a "horrible" movie, but one great thing came out of the campy musical film: Christina Aguilera met her current fiancé Matt Rutler, a production assistant on the project. After filing for divorce from Jordan Bratman (the father of her son Max, now 8) in October 2010, Aguilera found love again with Rutler, with whom she has a second child, Summer Rain, born in August 2014.

  • Natalie Portman & Benjamin Millepied

Filming 2010's Black Swan was a momentous experience for Natalie Portman: Not only did her performance lead to a Best Actress Oscar, but she also met her future husband Benjamin Millepied on set. Theirs was a love set to Tchaikovsky: a veteran ballet dancer, Millepied choreographed the film and worked closely with leading lady Portman. How closely? Well, they welcomed son Aleph into the world in June 2011 and exchanged vows in August 2012 in Big Sur, California.

  • Claire Danes & Hugh Dancy

"Marriage is wonderful," Homeland's Claire Danes said of her six-year union to Hugh Dancy, star of NBC's Hannibal and Hulu's The Path. "It’s challenging, and it just keeps getting deeper." Danes and Dancy met while co-starring in 2007's romantic drama Evening and bonded by playing Scrabble and Boggle on set. Clearly, regardless of their board game scores, both emerged as winners in the game of love.

  • Emma Roberts & Evan Peters

Though Ryan Murphy tapped both of these stars for his American Horror Story series, Emma Roberts and Evan Peters actually met while filming Adult World in 2012. Peters popped the question in December 2013, but their engagement was short-lived, with the young lovebirds going separate ways in June 2014. While they reunited two months later, their romance has remained tumultuous and unpredictable with plenty of on-and-off relationship confusion.

  • Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan-Tatum

Co-stars Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan were completely in sync both on and off the set of 2006's Step Up. The couple tied the knot in 2009 and welcomed a daughter, Everly, in May 2013. Ten years after their initial love connection, Magic Mike and his wife are still turning the world into their dance floor — and making us ask for an encore. After Mr. and Mrs. Tatum faced off on Lip Sync Battle, NBC announced the husband-and-wife duo is executive producing and appearing in an upcoming reality dance competition.

  • Johnny Depp & Amber Heard

While playing journalist Paul Kemp in 2011's The Rum Diary, Johnny Depp was writing his own love story with leading lady Amber Heard. Rumors of a romantic connection were initially dismissed but, in June 2012, Depp split from his girlfriend of 14 years, Vanessa Paradis, while the openly bisexual Heard ended her 4-year relationship with girlfriend Tasya van Ree. All the while, rumors circulated that Johnny Depp had just gifted Amber Heard a horse. Finally, in January 2014, they went public with their relationship and wedding bells rang as Heard flaunted a blindingly large engagement ring. In February 2015, the lovebirds wed at Depp's private island in the Bahamas.

  • Jennifer Anniston & Justin Theroux

Though Jennifer Aniston had dated a number of male co-stars over the years — from Friends guest star Tate Donovan to The Break-Up funnyman Vince Vaughn — she finally got it right when she started seeing Justin Theroux, who she met on the set of 2008's Tropic Thunder (he co-wrote the comedy with Aniston pal Ben Stiller). Though their first meeting didn't lead to fireworks, the two did feel sparks in 2010, when they co-starred in Wanderlust. Theroux popped the question in August 2012, and the stars quietly married in August 2015.

  • Miley Cyrus & Liam Hemsworth

Way before she was twerking on Robin Thicke at the 2013 VMAs or dyeing her armpit hair, Miley Cyrus was a fresh-faced Disney Channel starlet. In June 2009, while on break from Hannah Montana, Miley filmed The Last Song alongside her future bae Liam Hemsworth. By June 2012, Miley was rocking a 3.5-carat Neil Lane sparkler on that very special finger, but things went south in August 2013, shortly before the foam finger and twerking spectacle, and the engagement was called off. The two are said to have reunited earlier this year. Will it end in bliss or "Wrecking Ball Pt. II"?

  • Ryan Gosling & Eva Mendes

When asked what qualities he looks for in a romantic partner, Drive star Ryan Gosling replied, "That she's Eva Mendes. There's nothing else I'm looking for." Swooning yet? Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling met in 2011 while filming The Place Beyond The Pines. Since then, they've largely kept their romance private, apparently searching for The Place Beyond the Paparazzi. Even the arrivals of their two daughters — Esmeralda in September 2012 and Amada in April 2016 — were shrouded in secrecy.

  • Penelope Cruz & Javier Bardem

It took 15 years for Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem to go from colleagues to lovers. The Spanish actors first crossed paths in 1992, when they co-starred in Jamón Jamón, but it wasn't until they shared the big screen again in 2007's Vicky Cristina Barcelona that they decided to give love a chance. The ultra-private actors kept their romance largely out of the spotlight, appearing at red carpet events as an official couple in 2010, the same year they married.

  • Laurence Fishburne & Gina Torres

Laurence Fishburne must've taken the famous red pill while filming 2003's The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions: The actor, who played Neo's guide Morpheus, opened his own eyes to the truth about his feelings for co-star Gina Torres. Happily married since September 2002, the stars even played husband and wife on NBC's Hannibal.

  • Judd Apatow & Leslie Mann

While holding auditions for 1996's The Cable Guy -- which he co-produced -- comedy writer, producer, and director Judd Apatow laid eyes on his future wife Leslie Mann. He mustered the nerve to ask her out to dinner and a basketball game and fate took its course: In June 1997, they married. Together, the frequent collaborators have offered up such comedic gold as The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and This Is 40.

  • Julia Roberts & Danny Moder

Julia Roberts was romantically linked to many a co-star during the early stages of her career: from Liam Neeson (whom she met while filming Satisfaction) to Dylan McDermott (her counterpart in New Guy) and Kiefer Sutherland (her co-star in Flatliners). But, as it turns out, her true love was in the film industry — just not in the limelight. In 2000, while filming The Mexican, Julia Roberts and cameraman Danny Moder fell madly in love. They married in July 2002 and welcomed twins Phinnaeus Walter and Hazel Patricia in November 2004.

  • Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie

The award for most famous on-set romance goes to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. In summer 2004, the A-listers began filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith, in which they played married assassins engaged in an explosive cat-and-mouse game. Their chemistry was apparently just as explosive: On-set photos fueled rumors of a budding romance. When Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston announced they were separating in January 2005, after five years of marriage, the whispers grew louder. By July 2005, Pitt and Jolie were posing as a happy family for W magazine, a prelude to their current life as spouses and parents of six children.

  • Rachel Weisz & Daniel Craig

Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig got the shock of their lives when they fell in love while filming the spooky paranormal film Dream House in Canada in 2011. Weisz was married to Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky while Craig was engaged to film producer Satsuki Mitchell, so neither party was expecting the romantic connection that ensued. Within months, they ended their respective relationships and came together, exchanging vows in a secret ceremony in June 2011.

  • Freddie Prinze Jr. & Sarah Michelle Gellar

Though they're just entering their 40s, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. have been married for 13 happy years, making theirs one of Hollywood's most successful and long-lasting unions. They famously met while filming 1997's I Know What You Did Last Summer and tied the knot in September 2002. Gellar's Instagram feed offers a glimpse into their sweet domestic life and the adventures they share with their two precious kids: Charlotte, 6, and Rocky, 3.
