Whether you were a die-hard fan of Prince or not, it's impossible not to feel a sense of mourning upon hearing of his unexpected death at the age of 57. Not only did he have a huge impact on the music industry and on many of today's new crop of artists -- but his unique sense of style is also something no one else can ever quite correctly copy.

The only thing about his look that remained a constant over the years was that it was eccentric and all his own -- and was constantly evolving. There's never been a better time to take a walk down memory lane and take a look at exactly how Prince proved he was a performer and style icon out of the gate -- and how he remained one until his untimely passing. R.I.P., legend.

    Undeniably when you think of Prince your mind immediately goes to Purple Rain. Both the movie and the song quickly became classics, and Prince's ruffled, billowy white shirt, tight black pants, and lengthy curls quickly made him a style icon.
