Kate Middleton's Daring New Look Has Some People Totally Freaked Out

In preparation for her imminent trip to India, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge hosted a party this week at Kensington Palace. Kate Middleton wore a gorgeous dress by Indian designer Saloni, but not everyone loved her look.

The reception was for young people from both India and Bhutan, where Prince William and his lovely wife will be visiting next week. Kate wore a modestly cut polka-dot dress with some sheer components, and while this writer thinks she looked lovely, not everyone agreed.

Lovely, right? Not so much, according to some commenters on the Internet. One person wrote, "I think Karen Carpenter wore that in 1977, and it was ugly then too." Another chimed in, "What is Kate, 60? Did I miss something? That is so unattractive!"

Um, I'm sorry, but seriously? Kate looks amazing, as always, and it was a nice touch to be dressed in a piece from an Indian designer. Personally, I love the sheer-ish components to the otherwise ultra-conservative dress.

I think she's going to do just fine in India -- so long as she doesn't pay attention to the naysayers who are bound to criticize her look no matter what.
