Kate Middleton donned a seemingly-subdued gray coat dress, hat, and matching heels to celebrate Commonwealth Day with her husband and his royal family. While the muted shade is a definite departure from Kate's pretty pastels, it's still a look we love!

Check out how stunning the mom of two looks in this hat designed by one of Princess Diana's favorite milliners, John Boyd. The coat dress, with a tiny pattern and lace-effect overlay, was created by Erdem, while her matching gray heels were made by Rupert Sanderson.

Sure, we're accustomed to seeing Kate in more eye-catching colors but she sure makes gray look anything but dull!

Perhaps she didn't want to upstage the queen, the head of the Commonwealth. In her robin's egg–blue coat and hat, Queen Elizabeth actually stands out for a change, something that would be a challenge for anyone standing beside Kate!

We're sure with spring and Easter right around the corner, fans of Kate's pinks and baby blues will get their fill. But for a March holiday held on a Monday, we think Kate's elegant ensemble was spot-on!
